So, I went to try on gowns this Friday for the first time, and I have to admit I was rather disappointed. The only dress sizes the stores we went to carried in the gowns I liked were sizes 8 and 10. Unfortunately for me, I am heavier and couldn't fit into any of them. We are going to David's tomorrow because they carry larger sizes, and I want to get a better idea of which styles I like better for my shape.
Can anyone recommend another store I can go to try on gowns that have larger sizes (other than David's)???
Thanks so much!

Re: Larger Gown Sizes- Where to go?
I know paradise bridals carry a selection of larger sizes...unfortuantely for most stores its just a matter of what size the company send them. Have you tried calling some stores and asking?

Re: Larger Gown Sizes- Where to go?
hi. i bought my dress at lillette's and they had quite a few dresses for me to try on (i am a street size 18). most of the ones i tried on were pretty tight but they at least gave me an idea of what i would look like. did the dress shop you went to TRY to fit you into the smaller sizes? i tried on one dress that was a size 10--mind you, i couldn't breathe and it was being held together by clips but it was still on and i could see what i thought. i def recommend lillette's if you haven't been there....they made me feel totally at ease and did a great job!
also, i went to david's to try on dresses as well, just to get an idea, but honestly had a terrible experience there. it is good because you get to try on dresses in your size but they hardly make you feel 'special' :) HTH! good luck!

good to know!!! thanks so much! i am going to check out their website now! YES! that is exactly what i am talking about... i am a size 16 and it was near impossible to get into the sizes they had at the store... they definitely tried to fit me into the small sizes, but it was so hard to see what it was going to look like. i understand the designers just send them random sizes, i was so excited to go- then so disappointed... i have an appt at kleinfelds friday after work they carry larger sizes from what i saw online...

I believe Klienfelds carries a plus size line of dresses, I saw it on the news in a cab once.

that's awesome about kleinfelds--i totally wish i had tried on dresses there! i bet you'll have a great experience there. what i also did was call dress stores before i went in and told them my size to see if they could accommodate me. lillette's was the first place that was nice to me and i happened to find THE dress there. it's sad that designers don't send more plus size samples into the stores. feel free to FM if you have any other questions as you go along! :)
