Las Vegas trip Booking amount question?

Do you think 1200.00 is good for:

MGM Grand Hotel (4 stars)
10/7 we arrive in Vegas at 9:50 pm
10/10--depart at 9:50 pm (arrive in NY at 5:02 am)

Economy Car


We have never been to Vegas and it is not exactly what I planned for my wedding weekend, but FI really wants to go.


What do you think????

When FH and I went 1st time we stayed in Aladdin - 4 nights - round trip air - mid size car which we upgraded later on - and then we tacked on 2 nights at the Grand Canyon and that hotel and we spent approx $600-700/pp.

2nd time - Mandalay Bay - rental car - round trip air - 5 nights - a little more money, but not by much.

We went in April and June and we booked through Continental Airlines vacation travel.

Vegas is great. Try to go to Hoover Dam - it's about an hour drive. See shows and we ate at Delmonico's Steak House in the Venetian. It is Emril Lagasse's Restaurant. Delicious. Everything is expensive but it is sooo worth it.

I think that's about right if you watch what your spending, it's so easy to go crazy in Vegas even if you're not a big gambler.
I have to tell you how much I love the picture of the dog next to the pillow, it's the cutest thing ever !

Is that total nights, that does seem like alot. We stayed at TI this summer. It's not a monster hotel it's medium size and very easy to get around. Ours was like $720 for 5 days.

However the MGM is a lot bigger hotel.

Vegas is great even if you don't gamble, lots of shows, shopping.

Vegas is the best place on earth.

That is a tiny bit high, but, MGM is a fabulous hotel. It's tremendous!!! You'll love every minute of Vegas.

Are you planning on going to the Grand Canyon, or doing things that are outside of Vegas? Because, to be honest with you, if you aren't, you don't need a car!

I agree - the first time I went to Vegas with a girlfriend, we rented a car and used it to get around the strip and outside the area (she has family in a nearby town). Totally worth it. The 2nd time I went with FH and we rented a car and while we did use it, it wasn't necessary so each time we've gone after that, we never rented a car and didn't miss it.

We went to the Grand Canyon with a tour operator and would recommend that (because it's 5 hours each way! I'd rather relax than drive or have FH drive!).

The other thing to consider is that Friday and especially Saturday night are the most expensive nights in a hotel. So you're probably a bit on the high side of a quote because of that and because you're booking a few weeks in advance. We're leaving tomorrow to Vegas and tried to add another room for friends that decided to go kinda last minute and the rates are so much higher now than they were when we booked a few months ago. But it's still a good quote for two people!

Have fun! My FH and his boys are staying at MGM this weekend (me and my girls are staying at Mirage).
