I know a few of you girls have had it done. I would like to make a consultation for next week but I want to make sure I go to a good place. Where did you ladies get it done and did you have any side effects? How long was the recovery? blah blah bla any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
FH got this done in October at Stahl in Garden City. He has perfect vision now. They were fantastic. He has nothing bad to say at all about them.
Also, they have a guarantee where if you have the procedure done and you do not have 20/20 within 1 year they will either repeat the procedure OR refund your money. The price of the procedure also includes follow-up appointments for 1 year.
Get it done. Seriously. I know several people that have had the laser surgery and all are thrilled with the results. Well worth the investment when you consider the cost of contacts and glasses over your lifetime.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
As for recovery time, he saw perfectly the first day...then had a little bit of bluriness/double vision for about 4 days after (not severe, but just kind of blurry....he couldn't drive or anything). Within I would say 5 days after the procedure, he was all normal. Within a week or two, his vision was 20/20.

Do you know if that happens in every case? I think I would have a panic attack!

I think the bluriness is completely normal. He was told to expect it. I would imagine that it happens in most cases. I don't know about all.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
Sidenote....FH also had the PKT....
I think the bluriness is normal after the PKT. I think with Lasik you are okay the same.day. Not postive on that though.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
my dad had it done last year and he's very happy with it. The procedure itself went very quickly. I got to watch it close up on a tv screen. The recovery went pretty quick. He just had to wear clear lenses taped over his eyes when he slept for the first few week or so to make sure he didn't put any pressure on his eyes. And he had to use eye drops too. Otherwise he had great results!

i had it at TLC - on 57th street right? I had it just over a year ago. Two of my friends got it done right after me at the same place and i know at least 3 people that have gone there. Dr. Speaker is the one who does the surgery and Dr. Morschauser does my follow up I loooove her.
i just went in last week for my one year, and my vision is 20/15 - even better than 20/20!
if you want any more info FM me. the consult is free.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
Out of curiousity, how bad was your vision before the surgery?
I went to a consult at TLC Laser and they said since my vision was so bad they couldn't guarantee 20/20. (My vision is -9.00 in contacts). I was like I'm not sure I want to risk surgery and still have to wear glasses/contacts afterwards.

mine was -6 in one eye and -5.75 in the other and they said I was a prime candidate so you should definitely just go meet with them. they are definitely one of the more $$$ ones though.

I have heard great things about both Stahl and TLC! My eye dr. recommended Stahl, I think.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
My next door neighbor did her laser correction through TLC - FYI, since there are a lot of teachers on here, she said she got a huge discount b/c she of the insurance she gets as a teacher. I don't know which one it is.
I wish I did the laser correction, I just bought new glasses for $600

Re: Laser Vision Correction
I got mine done two years ago by Dr. Hufnagel at stahl Eye center in Garden City and I had NO problems whatsoever. I am sooo happy I did and it was worth every single penny.

Re: Laser Vision Correction
It would be great if it were covered by my insurance. I have Empire PPO. I guess Ill inquire but I SERIOUSLY doubt it
