Anyone do it? I really want to but with us paying for the wedding, I'm holding off.

I really want to do it but I too am holding off until after the wedding. It's expensive!
the place that I went to offered no interest financing for up to 24 months.
same here (0% for 2 years)....I went to Dr Hufnagel in Garden City...Stahl Eye Center...my brother got it done about 9 years ago by him...his eyes are still good
its different for everyone...I paid $3600...meanwhile my sister had to pay $3900...I wasnt a candidate for the regular lasik (which she got) b/c my cornea wasnt thick enough....so I had to get the bladeless one...
My FH just went 3 weeks ago to Stahl in Garden City and got his eyes done. He is very happy with their work. They have a great guarantee where if in 1 year your vision is not 20/20 they will either repeat the surgery or refund your money. The price they charge you includes all of your follow up appointments for 1 year after also. Definitely get it done. I know several people who have gotten it and I hear nothing but good things from all of them. And when you think about how much you spend on contacts and glasses, the price of the surgery ends up being well worth it.
It's about $3k, right?

Yep, I think it was just over 3k. The cost is supposed to be b/w $1500-$2000 per eye. Insurance doesn't cover it, but some insurances will give you a discount. I know his insurance knocked a few hundred off the price. Well worth every penny!

Some things I think insurance companies should pay for like this and braces!

I'd say to make sure you have it done at least 3 months before your wedding. Afterwards you're going to have blood spots in your eyes - it will look really really bloodshot. One of my students told me I looked evil. They clear up - mine are gone now, and its been 2 months since my surgery - but I wouldnt want to chance having red spots in my eyeballs on my wedding.
I didn't know about the blood spots on your eyes so it's good to know that. How has i been for you driving at night? Someone told me you can't wear your contacts for 2 weeks before the surgery. Was this the same for you?
I got the PRK surgery...the bladeless one..and I didnt have any blood spots...it just took a week to actually become less blurry....with the lasik one you can see right after its done...
My FH also had the PRK. He was okay the 1st day, bits of blurriness over the next 4 days or so (not horrible, he was able to get around fine, just a little double vision on certain things...NO driving!). By 5 days later his vision was perfect.

Re: Lasik
I had this done in April & it is truly amazing & would HIGHLY recommend. As Mimcat said, financing (0%) is an option w/ lasik, so that will help financially to pay it off. Good Luck & absolutely go for it if you are concidering it- it will change your life!

I know there's a span of time before that you can't wear contacts... I wore glasses, so it wasnt a problem for me. My driving at night is fine. I saw halos around lights for a bit, maybe like 3 weeks?, but they're healed now. I've heard, though, that some ppl do see them for several months afterwards and its normal.

Re: Lasik
i had it done in january - i had prk also b/c my corneas were too thin for regular lasik. prk is supposedly safer but longer recovery. I went to TLC on 57th street - Dr. Speaker. I definitely recommend it. It's pricey, but flex spending covered the whole thing for me.

I had the bladless one as well. It was 4200. I wasn't able to do anything that evening, but my vision the next morning tested at 20/15, and I droev myself to the appointment.

Re: Lasik
I got mine done at Stahl Eye Center in Garden City over Labor Day (I'm getting married in April). Within 3 days I had 20/15 in both eyes. I would definitely recommend it. I had the 3 day recovery (RPK) instead of the Lasik (immediate recovery), bc RPK has 0% chance of complications whereas Lasik there's a 1 in 10,000 chance of damaging the cornea. FM me if you want more details. I went to Dr. Weiner (they also have offices in Suffolk and in the City)

Re: Lasik
I had it done like 4 or 5 years ago. Best technology that has ever been invented. Sometimes I forget about all the hassle I used to go through with glasses and contacts. My vision is better than perfect. I had no symptons afterwards of halo's or bloodshot eyes. They were a little dry afterwards, but I kept the Visine Tears with me just in case. After a few months, the dryness went away. I went to Dr. Pamel on the Upper East Side. I know many people who went to him before me and after me. My old job covered this surgery 100%. They were the only company that was doing it. I honestly think they checked off the wrong box and they didn't realize it. Everyone at my old job went and had it done. I am so grateful for having it done. If you want more info, just FM me.
