LASIK update!
Ok so this was the nicest docters office I have ever been to. The people there are just AWESOME!!!
They brought me in and measured my pupils with this machine and then did some other tests to see what perscription my glasses where at. He then asked me a bunch of health questions and family history.
After that someone else came in and re evaluated my eyes to see if my perscription was different than my glasses. She did a few other eye type tests and then sat down and explained the ENTIRE procedure and EVERY question I could have asked to me. She was so super nice and made me feel really comfy. She also explained pricing (they give a big discount for teachers) and payment options. After I finished talking to her , they brought mein to talk to the actual docter that would do the surgery.
He also looked in my eyes and asked me a few questions. He explained some more things about the surgery and answered a few questions I had. He confirmed what many other eye docters have told me... that i have vessels growing on my eyes due to lack of oxygen from contact use. That basically means that I eventually would find contacts so uncomfy that I couldnt wear them. He was SUCH a nice man and the best part was all three people I spoke to had the surgery themsleves!
He gave me some perscription drops to help shrink(?)? the vessels and get my eyes are healthy as possible before the pre-op tests.
I decided to DO IT!!!
I made my appointment for 2/14 for the pre op testing. There, they will measure my cornea and do like a billion tests to make sure that I am a good candidate. If the tests show I cant do it, they are free of charge.
My surgery is scheduled for 2/21. After the surgery, I will have shields on my eyes and will take an abien and go to sleep. Once I wake up I shouldnt have any discomfort or pain. I will have to put various drops in for a few weeks but there is basically no recovery time other than that day. I cant wear eye makeup for a week.. thank god ill be off of work!
He also said that although the quantity of better vision is there, it takes up to 6 months for the quality to get to its maximum, meaning that my vision will get clearer and clearer as time goes on.
As for the people who were conscerned with night vision....he said that those problems mostly existed when the first laser came out and now that they due customvue and have more specialized lasers, he rarely heres of any complaints and most times, it makes your night vision better. I have awful night vision as it is so I will let you know if I see improvment.
EEK.
ETA the fee includes all test and the surgery, about 6 scheduled post op care appointments ANDDDDD... a lifetime garuntee of any treatment that needs to be done in the future. So if my vision changes downthe line they do a follow-up procedure for free!!!!
