Last minute airfare??

Has anyone had a good experience with getting last minute airfare?
My parents want to fly up here (Buffalo) next weekend from Islip. I am familiar with Priceline and pages like them, but I'm trying to find a site that you can choose the actual flights or specify maximum layover/connections??? I will never live it down if my parents end up with a 5 hour layover in Detroit or something

Thanks ladies

i think there is a flytoday.com w/ cheap tix

Thank you, but they only fly out of JFK, and my parents don't want to deal with the hassle.

I acutally use Jetblue all the time to come home. Their prices are reasonable up to a week ahead.
