ok girls, i need your help! we recently had a large number of no rsvps from people who had originally said that they were going to come to our wedding. i'm now about 6 people short of my minimum. i do have a 'b' list of people from work that i really wanted to invite, but couldn't because we were afraid that we'd go over our max.
so, with about a month to go to the wedding, and no more invitations left to send, how can i tackfully ask some of my co-workers if they'd like to attend our wedding???

I really think you need more invitations. Personally I think it would be really akward to try to verbally invite someone.

Re: last minute invites
we were in the EXACT same situation. we ended up verbally inviting them. either way they know they are a last minute invite off the b-list a month before the wedding! and even if you had invites to give them if they got them late in the mail they might be like whats this?? we were just honest with people and explained that we really wanted them to be there but that with our budget we had to draw the line somewhere and unfortunatly that line was co-workers. but now that we have room we would be honored if they could be at our wedding. most people are very understanding. we even told them not to bring a gift, we just wanted them to come. hope that helps!

I agree with Fallbride...be honest...if they ever planned a wedding they would understand....
Good Luck

Re: last minute invites
We were not honest with last minute invites. We called each person and just said 'have you sent back your RSVP' and they said 'oh, we didn't get an invite' and we acted shocked. But we had a ton of left over invites so I had enough to send out.
I know that if I was a last minute invite I wouldn't care but others don't feel that way and I didn't want anyone to feel bad. Lying was just the better option for us!

thank you so much for responding! i'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one who's had this happen. i truly believe that honesty is the best policy and think i'll go ahead and do exactly what you did.
thanks again for the advice!

Re: last minute invites
I would verbally invite them, or can you print something up? I would invite them, people understand that things happen and not EVERYONE can be invited. GL

Re: last minute invites
if it were me, I'd probably buy one of those DIY invite kits from Staples or Michaels and just print up the 6 or so you need. I invited some co-workers last minute, but I just brought invites in to work and told them that I had to wait and see how many no's I had before I could invite more people. out of the 4 co-workers I added last minute- 3 of them came!! so it worked out. good luck!!

Re: last minute invites
yay ... i was upfront and honest with my co-workers about my situation. they were all so excited when i asked them and they totally understood what i was going through.
what a relief!
again, thanks for all the great advice!

Re: last minute invites
my mom verbally invited some people and was originally going the 'oh you didnt get the invite?' route and then decided to just be upfront. Everyone she asked totally understood and was actually really touched that she went out of her way to ask them to attend. They ALL showed with smiles on.
