Last name suggestions! Oops, long!!!

OK, at the suggestion of Mary05 I am starting a last name suggestion thread.

A brief background:
My last name 8 letters, fi's last name 9 letter's. We can't really combine them easily, and don't want to hyphenate - too long. So we're trying to find something short, simple and yet somewhat unusual or meaningful. We're both from Ukraine (near Russia), and are both Jewish, but we're not sure if we want to give away our heritage with the last name. It can't sound too cutsie, b/c my fi has this macho thing about him, but also can't be too masculine.... We like the sound of Italian last names too.

Once, he emailed me a suggestion - kind of half jokingly, which was: 'Storm' and my reply was 'Amore', to which he said its too feminine/cheesy...

So for now we left it as is, and if we don't come up with something before the wedding then we may keep both our last names till we figure out better.

One rabbi we met said that I can use mine and/or his last name if I sign the new name as 'alina myname hisname' without the hyphen when we're getting the licence.

So all suggestions are welcome. And thanks Mary05 for suggestion.

I think it is great that you are both doing this together. A new name for a new family- that is wonderful. I would write both names on paper and use the letters to come up with the new last name.

I like Michelle's idea - if you post the letters of you last named scrambled - we can all make suggestions!

FIY, the last 2 letters of my last name are the same as the first 2 of his, but doing a plain combination like that results in a 15 letter 5 sillable name, way too complicated and funny to us as well.
