Repolling...since the last one stopped taking votes only 1/2 hr after I posted this topic!
Just wondering what most couples have left at the end of the month after mortage, utilities, car payments, etc.
We found a house we love and can afford it, but there will be little $ left afterwards. On average, how much do people have left over?
I'm talking about new first time homeowners (probably the first 2-3 years that you are in the house).
TIA!

Re: Last poll stopped working....
Nothing....
But we are slowing doing work on the house, and a lot of things came up right after we closed, my car die and we had to get a new car and I took a LARGE paycut with work, we also needed furintiure for every room, our attic fan stopped working, the dishwasher went all within the first 3 or 4 mths. Besides that we have had 16 weddings/ showers/ first communions etc since June. We were both in 2 bridal parties and the expenses just didnt stop.
So right now we are very tight very tight, but I am hoping that right after the new year we should be good again. My thinking and I dont know if this is right or not but between tax $$, increases in pay, and star credit kicking in we should have a couple of thousand comming to us shortly that will help us out..

Re: Last poll stopped working....
We had nothing extra for the first year. We painted and bought some furniture on credit 0% cards.
In other words, we didn't start savings accumulation until we were in the 2 year and after our first tax refund.
We just refinanced and have a better cash flow now.
We are also in jobs that pay better than before (people don't realize that those things change)
Don't have a dollar amt because DH works on commission. It changes.
It always looks worse on paper, but keep in mind that not all your bills are due at once so your cash flow will probably be fine.
