Going to my FIL's house for a bbq.

Please do tell where you went and what opinions you have!

Yesterday we looked at Swan Club, Milleridge Cottage, Westbury Manor and Bridgeview Yacht Club. Today we looked at the Mansion at Timber Point and West Sayville Country Club.

I really liked the Swan Club. We spoke with Jordana, she was very nice. The grounds were beautiful. We liked the bigger room (Contessa I think) and the cocktail hour room that would go with it. The platinum package would be about $105 pp for a Saturday evening in October. The only bad part is that they dont set up your candy for a candy bar... you'd have to use their candy or bring your own and have someone set it up. And if you have someone set it up (not from Swan Club), it can only be given as a favor... I guess they dont want people eating it there. Not sure why.

Next we went to Milleridge. While it is beautiful the minimum is high (200 or 175 with a room fee) and we would look lost in it. We'll probably have about 150 people.

After that we went to Westbury Manor. We met with Felicia, she was really great. She told us we have an awkward number for them. Under 140 fits in the garden room and for a sat evening the minimum for the manor room is 225. We were a little upset because we LOVED IT SO MUCH so she suggested an afternoon wedding in the manor room with a much lower minimum. We're thinking about this idea... I always pictured an evening wedding but I really love Westbury and this seems like the only way we could have it there.

Last we went to Bridgeview. I really wanted to love this place. I saw pictures that looked beautiful. When we got there they were having a shower in the bridal suite (which is HUGE) and setting up for a bar mitzvah and it looked strange. There was no carpet and spots on the tented (i guess thats what youd call it) ceiling looked like they were old. I dont even know the woman's name we met with (I dont think she even told us) but she rushed us through. I dont know if she didnt have a banquet office but she sat with us in the foyer to very briefly describe the food. Then she messed up the day (said it was a friday) gave us one price then said oops, its not 105 its 115. She seemed like she didnt care which made us not care so much. Disappointing.

Today we went to the Mansion at Timber Point which was nice. The dance floor is off to the side which was a little odd. Guests would have to walk through the reception room to get to cocktail hour which I didnt like. Otherwise it was nice.

Last was West Sayville CC - it just wasnt for us. Dance floor was in a completely different room. Wasn't overly impressed.

So now we're trying to think of other places that would be around $100 for an evening wedding. Suggestions?

Ahhh Just be a swannieeee!!!! Their big room is the Camelot, not Contessa (I got that mixed up in the beginning too) That room & CH room is sooo beautiful isnt it?!?

Yeah, it really is beautiful. And they were setting up for a wedding when we went there... some tables had centerpieces with three different flowers together and others had three individual vases with each flower in one. Very pretty and different. You might be able to see pictures in my album. FH says he wants to see it at night. Did you go to the tasting? We might do that to help decide.

Yes we did!! FH had filet mignon and I had the rosemary chicken... We both thought the 2 dishes were very good! When we booked they said we could come in again for a free tasting when it gets closer to the wedding and we need to do the menu... Very nice people to deal with

Do you know the minimum for the downstairs room at CLM? My grandma is handicapped and I dont think they have an elevator so we could only do the downstairs room.
