Anybody been to a reception that lasted until 1 am?
Did you stay the whole time?
Did a lot of people start leaving early? or Did the party rock until the very end?

Re: Late reception times
I've been to a couple of weddings that last until 1am...we always stayed to the end. If I remember correctly though, some of the older guests starting leaving early at all of them.

Re: Late reception times
I have never been to a reception that ended so late. I must however say that when I go to weddings that were kind of far away I do end up leaving early.
My wedding reception is ending at 12pm and since its in manahattan I dont expect people will all stay that late. I am renting out a bar in the place for the people who want to drink for another hour.
I dont think its a bad idea if mostly eveyone is close by.

Re: Late reception times
I was just at a wedding this past Saturday that went until one am. I'd say about 1/2 left around 12:00-12:30. I stayed until a few minutes before one. The only thing i did like about it was eating the entree's at 11:30.

Re: Late reception times
My wedding ended at 1:30. Most people stayed but some of the older folks left after the cake cutting. They missed out on a full table of desserts! More for me!

I think it depends on who your guests are. I've been to a few weddings that ended at 1am. I would say that on average, half the guests are gone around midnight.

I went to a wedding that ended at 4AM (the ceremony started at 9:30!) I stayed until the end but was exhausted!! 1AM seems early after that

I have to agree it really depends on your guests. I can't see a tun of older people staying that late esp. if the hall is far from where they live.

Mine ended at 1AM and Id say about 3/4 of the people were still there at that time.

Re: Late reception times
Mine lasted until 1am and it was a 6 hour reception. 40% of our guests stood until the end and they had a blast! I purposely had the chocolate fountain come out at 12:30am to 'reward' those that stood with us (cake was cut early at 10:30pm to weed out the non-partiers!)...it was awesome!

Re: Late reception times
Mine is ending at 1am. I am getting married in a Temple on a Saturday night. I am glad it is in the winter because had I had a spring or summer wedding, I'd have to wait until the sun went down to even start the ceremony. My guests wouldn't sit down to eat dinner until at least 10 and that is just too late. But I have been to weddings that last til 1. People do stay as long as they dont have to work the next day.
