Any brides planning anything cultural/traditional at their wedding? If so, what is it?

Re: Latina brides
Not really....Puerto Ricans are too assimilated We just borrow whatever traditions are done here We however, pin capias from the bride doll, that has our same dress...but that too seems to be fading away...Guess I won't be doing anything traditional!

Re: Latina brides
FH's family is Puerto Rican. His sister asked if we were doing the capias, but I don't want to. I did that for my sweet 15 and it took forever. I'd like to put some PR things into the ceremony, but I guess it's just our Salvadoran stuff! Maybe we'll just play tito nieves at the mass or something oh well. your family doesn't have any ideas?

Re: Latina brides
Not really traditions, but to incorporate Dh's heritage a bit we (My Dh is Ecuadorian), had one reading in Spanish and one reading in English at our ceremony (mass)
We had the the 'thank you'in the programs for church in English and Spanish
the mother son dance was a spanish song that the band learned
the band also had a CD that DH made that had some salsa, merengue, bachata-etc...and when they took their breaks they played this music

Re: Latina brides
probably just play a couple of merengue songs for dancing and that's about it!

Re: Latina brides
we did the '13 Arras' or 'Monedas' coin passing tradition during our ceremony. we considered doing the lasso, but since we weren't having a full mass catholic ceremony, we opted not to do it.
we just had a LOT of spanish music during the reception. (but made sure to mix together lots of other types of music as well)
ETA: we also had a spanish translationg of the TY on the program, and our MC was bi-lingual and translated announcements

One of my BMs did this at her wedding (she s Columbian). Most of the time I see the latin culture incorporated in the food and dancing, not too many curltural traditions.

Re: Latina brides
that's true. My cousin's wedding in LA was great. She incorporated our food into the cocktail hour and dinner. We had tortillas, rice, etc. I thought it was great.
