I had a budget and a saw several bands that I liked. where is your reception...sometimes they recommend some band. this industry is all on referals. I booked Phoenix - they are part of the Skyline Orchestra group. I got a 9 piece band - cocktail hr & reception for $4000.00 I also liked the band Skyline (part of the group too) but they were booked. The group does a lot of showcases. We booked Code Bleu. They are also part of Skyline Orchestras. I believe they were also in the $4,000 - $4,500 range. I saw some very positive notes posted on this site about them.

Speaking of Bands ?

Did you ladies find a difference in price for bamds on a Friday or Sunday vs. Sat night? We booked a Tiempiece for our Friday night wedding and Im just curious about this.

They didn't mention a price differential when we booked them, but ours is a Sat. afternoon, so I am not sure. Sorry.

Band Suggestions

In addition to what the other ladies suggested.. We booked Renegade (LI Paramount-I also heard that Arcadia is great too). But the close runner`s up were: The Original Faze Four, NYC Swing, Cafe Wha Band(they are less traditional, but a great band). I can get websites if you want. It`s worth a shot to look, and whatever you decide will be great. When you look, pay attention to the personality of the band leader, because he/she will be running your affair. Sorry to sound like I am lecturing, but when I started I knew nothing and I really got an education from the helpful Ladies on this board! Also, about the price differential, Saturday night is definitely the most expensive. Good Luck!

i booked Bodyheat..they are basically independent, but sometimes do showcases under Franklin Wayne Mgmt. They were MUCH better than other bands we saw!

The band we booked....

The band we booked is The Mystic. It is an 8 piece band with 1 female singer, several male singers and a horn section. We paid $4300.00 and it did include a piano player for the cocktail hour. If anyone is interested in hearing them they will be at Jillian`s tonight (6/22/01) for happy hour from 5 to 9. They played at my sister-in-law`s wedding last February and they were great! Get On Up - A GREAT band!!!

I just got married on 6/9 and the band we used was 'Get On Up' - We were VERY happy with them and got tons of compliments on how great they were. They're an 8-piece band. The band leader is Rob and his number is 516-705-8409. Best of Luck to you all! Karen

I also went ahead and booked Phoenix, but now they are on their own. They aren't part of Skyline anymore. Should I be concerned?
