I posted about this a long time ago. I am really looking for a change and Law has always been on the back of my mind. I am most interested in law practice where I can utilize my language skills (Spanish, French, Italian). I keep thinking of corporate law (international corps doing mergers, aquisitions stuff like that) but also immigration law.
Another question: Can you only focus on one type of law?

Re: Law School
I know this post is kind of old but I just got back from my honwymoon and thought I'd add my 2 cents.
I went to law school not expecting or even wanting to land a BIG FIRM job. I got a job with the government my first job out and I have been there for 5 years. I have advance quickly and am now a managing aqttorney in the office. I don't make 6 figures but I am getting close!! And of course my hours cannot be beat. The government is very flexible. The job is demanding and challenging (as tanbride said...we worked in the same office with 650 other lawyers) but I am very happy there!!
The debt is ALOT. No doubt. I would have a very different life BUT FOR the $700 a month I pay to AES but law is what I wanted to do and if it is what you want then you should do it.
If you are doing it for the money then I agree with starhead and the others....I hope you get into a TOP school and graduate TOP of the class because that's what big firms want. Otherwise, start smaller, (like in government) and move up from there!!
