omg.... i never knew this was going on... good thing our cars are bought and thats the only thing we do... fh's parents love to lease new cars every three years

FH used to love to lease. His first one was stolen less than 7 months into the lease.. so it's an automatic total and return of deposit. He was happy..got a New leased car.... then...................... The insurance company dumped him like a hot coals and through him into Assigned Risk. A minor accident (disputed fault) and a BS speeding ticket (Queens Blvd under 10miles over limit) plus the stolen vehicle. Now his Insurance Premiums are HIGHER than this Lease payments by nearly $100 and since it's a lease he can't return the car without a penalty.
So for the last year and a half we've been suffering. I own my car straight out. Wish we could just return his. Next year his lease is up, thank god. No new lease this time, we're waiting a few months (collected cash) then buying the Mazda 6.
