I have never lived away from home and get so nervous. I have to start the apartment search and want to find something reasonable but nice and def. a 2 bedroom! We would love to get a home by 3 years of getting married so we need something cozy, ep. if we decided to have a baby w/in those 3 years (which we already want). I get so freaked out! I think about finding an apt. and the thought of a house which I can't wai to have! I freak the heck out! PS I am on Craigslist looking at apt listings that's why am freakin out!

Re: Leaving Home Anxiety
I TOTALLY understand how that feels. I have always had a hard time adjusting to change and leaving home is a BIG change. I know how overwhelming the apartment and house searches can be, especially when you've never done it before and there seem to be SO many choices and things to do. Tons of paperwork, lots of real estate terms, applications to fill out, things to buy.... it can be crazy! But you're going to be fine - just take it easy and make sure you go with your gut. You don't have to jump at the first place you find, but don't have to drive yourself crazy looking, either. The good news is, you get to start a brand new life with FH in a place of your own, so focus on how exciting that is!!
Also remember that the wedding registry is your friend and will hopefully take a lot of stress out of stocking your new place. Good luck!!!!!

I understand, as well. It took me a long time to get used to not living at home. I still stop by often and visit my dog. It makes me sad just thinking about it.

Re: Leaving Home Anxiety
It is completely normal to get anxiety. I lived home unitl last July. The first night I moved into my FH home I had an anxiety. I couldn't sleep two days prior to moving and on the first night at our house I had a panic attack at 3 am in the morning. I Thought it was so weird to be like that considering I use to stay there all the time prior to moving in.

Re: Leaving Home Anxiety
Lord, do I know how you feel!!!!!
Except for living at school for 4 years of college, I've always lived at home. It's very nerve wracking to know that the night before my wedding will be my last night at home with my mom (and family)!!!! I'm really looking forward to the move and living with DH, but I'm having a bit of separation anxiety!!!
We're going to start looking for an apartment soon also and I swear I just freak out! I'm so worried we won't find something in our price range that we like (and we definitely also want a 2 bedroom!). So, no, you're not alone!!!!
