Another crazy idea of mom's - the church is adjacent to a lake...mom thinks we should leave the church by boat and have a limo pick us up at the other end of the lake (park setting where we'd take some pics). No power boats are allowed so first off I can't see this as even feasible, (I'm NOT rowing a canoe in my wedding dress!) But aside from that I am really nervous about being in a boat in my dress. FH, my mom and dad all say I'm being a bridezilla. Am I weird to think this is a bad idea???

Re: Leaving the church by boat?
I went to a wedding in southern NJ last summer that was on the water. There was a dock and they got on a boat (it was motorized and big - not a yacht, but big enough you'd never get wet) and went to a park for pics. It was very nice, but I don't think it would work if you can't use a motorized boat. What type of boat is your mom thinking of?

If it is not a powerboat then I would say know. How are you going to get in and out without getting wet - do they have docks. I don't know - it seems really cool (we have a boat so I know what it can seem like). But to me it sounds like too many things can go wrong without it being a power boat.

You're not a bridezilla, but I would ask your mom to picture you wet, from falling into the lake, and the disaster that may cause at the reception....

Re: Leaving the church by boat?
My mom grew up on a lake and so I think the boat is a part of her nostalgia...but that is a good point..if there is no dock then this is a no go? Honestly I'm not sure what sort of boat she was thinking of - I just got a lot of flack for negging the idea...

Alina - I said exactly that to her and my mom's response was 'you're not going to fall in. so what if you get a *little* wet'

Meghan, Ok, even in your parents are being gracious and paying for the wedding, this one would be a no no for me. I understand you need to compromise and stuff, but the thought of that makes me go to Las Vegas

I think it's a cool idea, but if it rains or really windy, there's trouble there.

IT SOUNDS GREAT - BUT LOGISTICALLY A BIT CHALLENGING
