We were told there's this place called Island Harvest that goes to your hall and picks up whatever food is left over and distributes it to local shelters. We are just a little bit under our guarantee, so we're having them come by and get what's left over. Hey, if we're gonna pay for it, at least someone can enjoy...and who better than those who need it!! We get a tax write off, which is great, but I love the fact that it's going to a good cause and someone will enjoy our special day in that way. I highly recommend it for those who guaranteed a lot, like we did, and so many aren't coming, and you're under. You call them and tell them where your hall is and they come pick it up sometimes the day after. The hall will refrigerate your food and put it in boxes for them. They've worked with my hall before, so it wasn't an issue. Here's the link... Island Harvest

I am not sure who did ours but i know our food didn't go to waste...our RH set it all up...was nice to hear we could do something good!

yes.... our hall is involved with this organization and they always send over the leftovers to them. i was very happy to hear that....
i would encourage everyone to inquire and see if your hall does it and if not, set it up!

we did that too! but our venetian hour was somehow sent home with my parents to fill 2 refrigerators, lol! All the other leftovers went to Island Harvest :)

I don't think we have food wasted in our wedding. Almost all of our guest told me 2 things (1) beautiful wedding and (2) FOOD IS GREAT. My family in law and other OOT relatives love the food so much that they went back to Pine Grill (CBC) restaurant a week after my wedding.

Thanks for the info!!! FH and I were just talking last week about how we wanted to ask the reception hall about something like this. My company has a huge Holiday party and all the leftovers go to Island Harvest, so I wanted to do something similar.
Anyone do this (or something similar) with Westbury Manor?
