Leg cramps at night!

Leg cramps at night!

I have been getting the worst leg cramps pretty much every night. They keep me awake they are so painful. The problem is that when I sleep on my left side, my whole middle feels like it is collapsing in on itself (my rib cage in particular), but when I sleep on my right side I get these leg cramps. Basically, I don't sleep! Has anyone had any experience with these cramps? Do they get better or worse? I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow.

I've only had leg cramps in my left leg. I wake up in the middle of the night screaming because they are so painful. Then my leg is sore for the rest of the day. I think they just get worse because I have a month to go andI still get them.

try eating my potassium. Have a banana. Or try getting more calcium. Have some milk.

I had bad leg cramps and such a bad case of restless leg syndrome when pregnant. Try drinking lots of water or eating more potassium.

When I was pregnant I would get HORRIBLE leg cramps. When I would get them I would get up and place my foot on the cold floor. Beleive it or not it did help.

I get them mostly on my left leg. WOW they hurt!

I usually get them in the early morning hours too. I have to massage them out and then my leg is sore for the next day or two. They didn't start for me until a couple of weeks ago but they've since persisted.

Be careful when stretching and flex your feet often throughout the day and at night before they happen. That's suppose to help prevent them. Since I've been doing that they are somewhat less painful when they do happen.

I eat a banana almost everyday and that doesn't help so I don't know about that part.

I use to get horrible leg cramps which were worse in for a few weeks in the middle and again towards the end o fmy pregnancy. Dr said usual causes are depletion of calcium or dehydration. I started taking 2 Tums at night (per dr recommendation and eventually part of GD diet) and it helped a lot. I have also heard lack of potassium - my friend had a banana every night and it helped her. Also if you catch it before it is bad - flex your foot - helps stop it and make it not as bad. I am became a por at doing this in my sleep.

I've been getting leg cramps at night too...I find that by putting a pillow down by my feet and sleeping with my feet raised up a bit has helped a lot.

I get the restless legs syndrome - it keeps me up all night sometimes...the only thing I find that helps is putting a thick pillow between my knees and laying on my left side.... good luck!
