On Mon our super burst a water pipe in the apartment above us. Most of the damage was in the bathroom and bedroom. There are also damages to the walls in the dining room, hallway and living room. Our renter's insurance is covering our personal property damage (thank god).
They are starting work on Sat - scraping the walls, re plastering and painitng. They expect to be done on Mon. Our insurance covers a hotel stay.
Is it within our rights to withhold rent for the days we are unable to live in the apartment while it is being repaired? Our landlord has been a real ****** about everything so would like advice for a legal standpoint.
Thank you so much!!!

I hope not too - we're going to stay at La Quinta (where Colleen's wedding block was). They are giving us a family suite - so it's a living room that is seperate from the bedrrom. I'm going to bring her cat tree. I figured between that and boarding her she would be less stressed being with us even if it's not home
