Legal Ladies Please Help

Legal Ladies Please Help

Ok, so it's been a month and although it still very much pisses me off everytime I think about it, I think it's time to talk about it!

As some of you may remember, I had an issue with my hall a month before my wedding in where they had us booked for the wrong time slot and they told me to send an oops letter to my guest which i REFUSED to do. It was a half hour difference so I kind of just let it go and hoped for the best. It was supposed to be 8:00pm-1:00AM and they booked it for 8:30-1:30 and said there was nothing that could be done. Well, come the day of the wedding, my guests arrived for an 8:00PM coctail and were not taken into the coctail hr room 'till 9:00PM!!! They were forced to linger for an HOUR!!! Reception was supposed to start at 9:30 and started at 10! They also took my guests out of coctail early saying the reception room was ready when it really wasn't and had them wait in the lobby AGAIN. I basically lost a full hour and they did NOTHING ... I had to pay my photographer and videographer OVERTIME to stay past our schedule time so they can capture some important parts.

I haven't even conacted my BM yet (not like he was very responsive to begin with) ... I have just been sooo pissed about it ... Don't know how to go about handling the situation! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Legally speaking, they should reimburse you for the 1 hour that you lost.
Do you have it on your contract that the start time was supposed to be from 8pm to 1am? If so, ask to speak with the general manager of your RH and see what can be done. Mention that you received numerous complaints from guests and at how embarassed you were that your guests were escorted to the lobby and told to wait there.

That....

Also in addition....
I work for an attorney but I can tell you off the back that it's going to cost you more to retain a lawyer than what you might get back from the venue. Just tell the venue that you looking to retain a lawyer if you dont receive a reinbursement withtin the next 20 days.

When we originally booked with them, we put it between 8:30-1:30 then during the planning process we changed it with my BM ... I dont have it in a contract but it is in an email ... is that good enough?

I would contact the RH place first and vent to them about the situation. My mom was recently telling me about a guy she works with got $ back from his RH because they messed things up and they were very unhappy with the outcome of their wedding there (not naming location). I would also show them the extras you had to pay for for their mistake (ie photog and so on) and tell them you want the extras paid for. You probably do have a leg to stand on in court, you would just have to get a free consultation from a lawyer first. Generally I don't think the RH wants a bad rep and they know this site exists so I am sure they will work with you.

ETA: and yes in an email should be good enough and if they replied to that email its probably even better.

thank being said, though, i agree with the other ladies - getting a lawyer to represent you in this may cost more money than it's worth

you might want to reach out to a contracts attorney and see if they want to do it pro bono (for free) - attorney's are encouraged to do 50 hours of pro bono each year but most of them don't

if i was admitted, i would write the letter for you, but im not admitted yet :-/ sorry!

Yikes- I would ask them to reimburse you for all the overtime charges and the hour that you missed in your reception
