Is that 2 tbsp. of lemon juice, 1 tbsp. of maple syrup and 1/10 tsp. of cayenne pepper in 8 oz. of water?

It's not easy to get down the first couple of times but you get used to it. I found in The New Detox Diet book.

I did it for three days - it was rough on the first day, but the second and third were pretty easy. The taste was NASTY on the first day - but I drank it down easily after that.
However, I have some suggestions:
1) consider eating fruit for breakfast and drinking 2 glasses of the lemon concoction for lunch and dinner because you may get light headed.
2) drink TONS of water - rinse your mouth after drinking the lemon mix to protect your tooth enamel (and to rid your mouth of the lemon taste)
3) take it easy and don't try to do it for too long
4) make sure a bathroom is ALWAYS close - you will pee constantly
5) when you decide to come off of it, don't go back to eating regularly right away - start with vegetable or fruit juices, move onto cooked vegetables the first day or two and then slowly ease back to 'regular' foods

Re: Lemon Cleanse
Another thing - you will lose tons of water weight on this but if you eat a clean diet once you come off of it, you can continue to see results.
Good luck to you - I'm actually going to do this over the weekend!

i'm watching starlicious makeovers on E! and there was just something about this drink. it's how robin quivers (howard stern's sidekick) lost a lot of weight.

I am curious to hear more about this. You eat fruit for breakfast and two glasses of this for lunch and two for dinner? Anything else? I would pass out for sure if there isn't a little more food in there somewhere.

Re: Lemon Cleanse
I have done this several times - it's a great source for mental clarity as well as weight loss (though I wouldn't just use this as a means for weight loss, but more as a detoxification before a weight loss regimen). I've never been hungry doing the program, but you do crave food...which is why its a great detoxifier.
Ideally, you want to do the program for 5-7 days and you can do it for longer. The longest I've done it is 10 days. People have done it for a month or two.
You may want to read the book 'The Master Cleanser' before doing the diet as it tells you the benefits of the cleanse and what you can and can not consume (he also recommends you drink a tea at night). Also tells you how to ease back into eating regular food without harming the cleanse or your stomach.

Personally, I've never eaten fruit for breakfast. You can also drink as much of the lemon mixture as you want, though try to combine with water as well. You can drink the mixture hot or cold.
I have exercized while on the cleanse and never got faint. I never really had to alter my daily regimen because of the cleanse. Every element of the mixture provides a purpose. The maple syrup is the main source for caloric intake and provides you with energy.
Hope that helps.

So there is no food on this program, just the drink and all the water you want? Interesting.

Like I mentioned before, it may help to read the book or plug in 'Master Cleanse' into google to hear how others adapted the diet. Some people drink vegetable broth during the cleanse, it doesn't have to be just water, tea and juice mixture.

Re: Lemon Cleanse
I started the cleanse today, so far so good. I was not able to drink the salt water mix this morning. You are supposed to drink 1 quart of salt water first thing in the morning. I was able to drink 1 1/2 cups. This is supposed to be an oral enema. I am hungry, but I am trying to ignore it and drink my juice
I am mostly just trying to get rid of the 7 lbs i gained over christmas for my first dress fitting this thursday. I am so nervous I wont fit into my dress!

My FH has done the master cleanse several times... I just worry I wouldn't be able to workout on it because I'd get weak...

You don't have to drink the salt water. You can drink the herbal laxative tea as an alternative You can get the tea at GNC or another health food store. When I am on the cleanse, I drink this tea in the morning and before bed and also drink mint tea on occassion.
lipglossjunkie...you won't get weak if you exercize. Atleast I haven't (nor has a few of my friends who also exercize and have done the cleanse). This was one of my bigger fears the first time I did the cleanse, but it is not the case.
I'm planning to start the cleanse again on Tuesday for 10 days.

Re: Lemon Cleanse
The syrup and the pepper alone--I think would make me want to vomit.
Although, I am curious to know how this works as a cleanse, by making you go #1 a lot or #2 a lot?????
