Original post by JamieAnt06202009

What are you girls eating on Fridays? I am going to eat pizza tonight even though it's not in the best interest of my dress lol.

from what i've been told the whole thing is a sham......it was created by the catholic church to boost the fishing industry, so no meat = eat fish = money for the fishing industry......but that comes from my mom a catholic school graduate who hated catholic school

i dont know how much truth there is to it

Well I already ate turkey bacon this morning because I completely forgot about lent (as I ALWAYS seem to do!!!) I had pizza for lunch and might have pasta for dinner. I am not a fish eater so my options are really limited!

i never understood why they dont consider fish meat

What I was told was that this all started to help boost the fishing industry way back when so they said originally no meat on wed and fri during lent this way people would be forced to eat more fish. I hope no one gets mad at me for this, it is just what I heard, but I still follow the rules of a good catholic and eat my fish on fridays

I was bad and had my 2 slices of pizza and I pigged out on carbs all day. Observing lent and not eating meat is bad for the wedding diet lol.

I just made Hot Sauce Glazed Tempeh along with homemade mashed potatoes with jalapeno corn gravy. I manage to get by everyday with no meat and tons of variety! (and omg, yes, chicken = meat)

nobody should get mad, i remember learning about this in school. That's why alot of catholics will eat seafood on friday.

I am not catholic so I had chicken and beef today. DH is catholic and he went to a steakhouse today omg his mom would kill him lol but 2 friends who couldnt make it to his party last week took him out to his favorite steakhouse. Wanna hear the funny part,dh came home early bc he got SOOOO sick off of it, he went to bed now bc he cant take the pain, i guess that was his punishment for eating meat lol

ETA: although im not catholic and dont have to follow this, have to say the orthodox one is so much more strict. Theres also 2 different versions ppl follow, theres one alot more strict than the other and its for 40 days, and some do it for even longer. My grandmother follows the real strict one and its insane, theres hardly anything you can have lol. Theres times you cant have any dairy, then no meat and dairy at the same time and a bunch of other things lol. I never follow it
