Lent question

I am not Catholic, I am Episcopalian.

However every year I observe Lent. Something I have been doing forever.

I give up something every year.

Is this wrong? I am being so serious.

I gave up Potato Chips for Lent and I happened to mention this to someone and they gave me the strangest look when I told them I was n't Catholic.

I don't see anything wrong with that. I am not Catholic but Evangelist and I observe lent too. I gave up chocolate last year. This year I didn't give anything up but I am still observing not eating meat on Fridays and so on.

I thought Episcopalians observed Lent. I know that some Episcopal churches were offering ashes yesterday. If anyone says anything, tell that Episcopalians do it too. Teach people not to live in a bubble. I had to learn.

I am Episcopal, we observe Lent. Last week's sermon at my church was about giving something up...not just chocolate or anything but about making a real change.

Oh well, I gave up snacking during the day

We did give out ashes yesterday too...I am a bad Episcopalian, I didn't get any

Re: Lent question

Sometimes people equate Lent with being something that only Catholics observe, I guess. I just assumed all Christians, no matter Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, etc observed Lent so I wouldn't find it odd.

Now if you didn't eat Potato Chips and you were giving them up for Lent, then I'd look at ya funny

Re: Lent question

christian people believe in christ, the idea of lent is to give something up for lent since jesus gave up his life for us...
thats the way ive looked at it..

i try and give something up each year, however i tend to forget at some point and do what i wasnt...
one year i was silly and gave up wearing pink sock(i thought that would be REAL easy)... nope, one day i managed to put on pink socks
