Leonards and Bravo Sound

Congrats to all!
I am planning my wedding reception at Leonards (in Great Neck) and will use Bravo sound as the DJ. Any reviews on either of them? Any tips on what to leave out or what to get? Any pictures of your wedding (centerpieces, rooms, etc...)
Thanks,
Ivelise

Re: Leonards and Bravo Sound

You're getting married on my birthday and using the same DJ company! Nice choice on both.

Anyway, I LOVED Bravo Sound - Mike was very good to us and we had a great time. I know, I haven't posted my review, but I've been extraordinarily busy and there have been issues with another vendor, NOT BRAVO, so I've been reluctant.

The only thing that was less than great about Bravo was our ceremony music, and this could have been remedied if I'd been a bit more vigilant. The specific issues were:

1. they asked us to suggest songs to play as guests were entering. We named some songs by Nickel Creek and Alison Krauss and Union Station, and they picked some songs in a similar vein to go with them. Sounds great, right? Well, they had chosen songs with Christian themes to them - and we're JEWISH (duh, with names like Cohen and Greenspan?)!!! But no one noticed except for me when I looked at the track listing from the CD they gave me.

2. This one's funny. So I had listed on my sheet that I wanted my recessional music to be a chorus of Siman Tov (traditional Jewish recessional song) followed by The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love'. Yeah, I have a Love Actually obsession. So anyway, at the end of the ceremony DH breaks the glass, everyone shouts 'Mazal Tov', and as we kiss, the DJ goes directly into 'All You Need Is Love', which for those unaware, begins with the first line of the French National Anthem. My bridesmaids all looked at each other in complete confusion, saying, 'Umm, I didn't know they were French?!'

Honestly though, I loved working with Bravo, they're dolls. I only told you those stories because they're funny.

Re: Leonards and Bravo Sound

Hi my friends got married there last year.

It was a great party.

I asked her if she could give her review about Bravo sound

Here it goes:

She was not happy at all. First of all they screwed up on the ceremony they played the recessional song before th revered said 'you may now kiss the bride' we all laughed but she didnt.

Wehn she got her video surprise the hour she paid them for the cocktail music was a waste because they never set up and therefore didnt play any music. So there was cheesy music in the background instead of the music she and her husband had choosen for that hour which she said took alot of time! Never explained themsleves they never even set up the turntable. I wonder if they new they couldnt do it or something and still took the money.

Then they screwed up the first dance.
She was to dance along with her groom and that was it. They paid alot of money to practice and learn a dance to Sinatras 'The way you look tonight' and we the bridal party didnt want to dance at all and his and her parents were sick.

They were told this she says and they still called in his parents to dance! and left it at that. So you think to save face they could have called the rest of us so it didnt look so bad, but no they didnt. The MC just stared at them blankly. She had to edit the video because it looked wierd and their special dance was not appreciated as they had hoped.

They didnt play the specific songs they asked during dinner.

My friend was pissed and she made it known and cut down the tip. Ofcourse she asked me to give it to them because she had alot of vendors and guests were saying goodbye.

Well MC wasnt having it and asked for more and wouldnt move so I went to tell her dad and uncle and they talked to him and he was mad. Guests were all over the place there wasnt a scene and her dad didnt want one so he gave him $100 and then he left.

The music was great at times and then it was boring and he was not taking any requests.

All in all I dont think guests I mean really minded or new anything was going on with them, but the Bride did and she wasnt happy.

She didnt go after the money or anything with them because her mother fell gravely ill after the wedding and she didnt have the head for it and then it was just too late and she let it go.

Hope this helps. I just started this planning thing and Im getting worried more and more by the minute!

PS Friends said she didnt use any other vendor that LEonards recommended but Bravo sound and the Mike was nice but talked out of his elbow it was annoying at times and she wanted to tell him to 'Shut up' half of the time. SHe said the first time they met he talked for two hours straighT but that he was a nice guy just way tooo talkative.
