Is anyone using Lessing's as their caterer? I know that you can either use Black Forest Bakery or Audrey's for your cake. Can they substitute different cakes or cupcakes instead?
We have Lessing's at Timber Point--we're having Black Forest do cupcakes for us instead of the cake that comes with the package. Tommy was great to work with, he really seemed into the idea of doing cupcakes, and had a lot of great ideas. We're having three different flavors of cupcakes, with three different shades of icing and flowers on top. He even called us when we got home to suggest that he put pearlized or sparkly sugar on the icing around the flowers to make them even more special. Which sounded great to me! Also, my family has a tradition where my mom bakes a very special cheesecake--from Martha Stewart's first 'Weddings' book--and we're bringing that in. (My mom is an incredible cook and baker--better than almost any bakery.) Lessings had no problem with that, and aren't charging us a cake-cutting fee. We're also going to have a groom's cake from Black Forest. I haven't had Audrey's cakes, but I live in the area and have had Black Forest before and they're quite good.
I am thinking about cupcakes as favors too. We are giving a donation as a favor so maybe we will do this.
