Lessing's - Service Fee

Lessing's - Service Fee

Has anyone booked with a Lessing's property yet? (Bourne Mansion, Vanderbilt Mansion, Timber Point, etc).

If so, any idea what the 18% service fee includes? Who is that 18% distributed to?

If I remember correctly this is the fee for like setup, breakdown, etc. And I imagine it's essentially what they use to pay all the servers, bartenders etc.

This is NOT the tip/gratuity.

Don't forget there is then tax too which if I remember correctly the 18% does not get taxed.

do you tip each individual separately at the end of the night? i'm new... not sure how this all works.

As far as Lessings I would just give the captain or Maitre D a envelope and let them know it's for the whole staff. That's probably what I will do.

I'm considering booking here

I have a relative who happens to be Timber Point's main chef.

so I'm hopping I'll get an excellent deal
Ill find out Thursday
but from what he was explaining to me over the phone tonight
is that PPP can be negotiated but the service fee cannot.
Also what you pay is what you get. They are not big on throwing in extras.

When I booked the Bourne Mansion I was told the service fee will go to tip the servers, bartenders, etc. We will be tipping the bridal attendant, and banquet manager seperately. We don't plan on tipping everyone else separately, we were told thats what the service fee is for.

I booked at Timber Point Service fee is for break down and set -up and goes to tipping the servers/bartenders. then on top of that they tell you to tip the maitre D $3-$4 a person.,

for those who booked a lessings property... any idea if you are supposed to tip the BM too?

we met with ben for the initial viewing and contract signing, but he said he'll only be at the wedding for a little bit just to see how everything turned out, do we need to tip him too?

You have to pay the 18% and the tax AND the tip too. It is a bit of a racket but FH did reserch and it is totally legal.

Re: Lessing's - Service Fee

I used to work at a Lessings facility and the 18% does NOT go to the staff. Not really sure where it goes, but I've been told that the 18% helps pay for the staff salaries and such...my question was always, 'Then what does the cost per plate go to?' So to answer your question, it doesn't go as a tip for anyone.

All places have a service fee, and it seems to be either 18% or 20%. We have been told that it covers tips for the wait staff, cooks, etc, and doesn't include the Maitre'd or bridal attendant.

Not sure if it actually goes to those people or not...

I was just thinking that... This is any place you go, and even just caterers for that matter.
