Lessing's West Sayville CC review

Lessing's West Sayville CC review

We took my Mom there today for Mother's Day. I have only heard wonderful things about Lessings & condired having our wedding at Bourne Mansion.
The food at W. Sayville CC today was TERRIBLE!
DH refused to eat it. Even my son who eats anything said he didn't like it. The service was poor.
The coffee was cold. It was the worst restaurant/catering experience we've had. The price was right up there with every other catering hall/restaurant in the area.
I felt so bad for my Mom, she was a good sport about it. I said something to the manager & looked at me like I had two heads. I'm calling Visa tomorrow.
Lessings has(I thought) such outstanding food, I was really PO'd.
Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing. I went to a lessing tasting at Timber point and thought the food was good. I booked The Smithtown Landing CC which is also Lessings. I know that each CC has it's own cook though. I hope.

I am booked at Timber Point & went to there last food tasting & was very happy with there food, however I did go to West Sayville CC for a food tasting in January(prior to booking) & didn't find there food to be anyting to right home about. Each Lessing's place has its own chef & menu, so I imagine that's why.

Chelley- Smithtown Landing was my 2nd choice, Ginny there is wonderful! Best of luck to you!

Re: Lessing's West Sayville CC review

I was working with Laura, but my mom called there & Lorraine said she doesn't think shes there anymore, but this woman seemed flakey so I have to contact them to find out. I thought Michael was the Matre'd, but I could be wrong. I have also dealt with Ben(Mr.Lessing) & he is a doll. I am going to contact him about Laura.

prncssrachel- DON'T freak, I am telling you they ALL have different chefs & staffs. I would do a food tasting to assure your self. but don't jump the gun.

Re: Lessing's West Sayville CC review

Stavia, I met with Michael Lessing last year and I thought he was the owner of Lessing Caterers. That's what Ginny told me. I thought Ben was a salesman. Now you got me thinking. Let me know if you find out for sure.

Ben's last name is Nieremberg or is it Nuremberg? I believe they're partners now, but I could be wrong.

Oh, Chelley now I am confused! I FM when I find out who I 've delt with! Maybe I 'm just losing it, I did spend the day with my mother stuffing invites so its quite possible, LOL.

My sister got married at West Sayville CC back in 1991. The food was very good then, but maybe the staff has changed since then.... Yikes! Maybe it was an off day? Sometimes a really great caterer can have an off day....

I got married at Smithtown Landing and the food was great. They all do have different staff and chefs at each location so I wouldn't think what happens at West Sayville would happen everywhere.

Kelly, sorry to hear about your Mother's Day...that just stinks!

TimberPoint's food is definitely good. I've been to Smithtown Landing too but honestly I can't remember the food. I don't remember NOT liking it, so that's a good sign.

They do have different chefs at each, so don't worry if you liked one Lessing place and not another.

I am sorry you had a bad experience with the West Syaville CC. I had my bridal shower there, and everything was great, the only compliant my Grandma and Mom had (they threw the party) was that they took the food away too early. But other than that is was beautiful.

FH and I did our tasting for Bourne and it was phenomenal. There will always be a difference of opinion on this subject, I guess.
