teachers...

how do you plan for a week in advance?

Im so stressed b/c im only doing day by day plans. My colleagues are already 2 weeks in advance ....i dont have any forethought to imagine what to do at the end of september

any tips on how to get into the swing of lesson planning would be so greatly appreciated

sincerely,

Re: lesson planning help

I schedule everything according to times...for example
11:00-11:45 Literacy Centers
11:50-12:45: Math (whatever the lesson is)
12:45-1:00: Get ready for lunch

This is the way that works best for me....HTH

Re: lesson planning help

are you told to include standards?

we have to ...our principal stinks.

we also have to write everything out

Students will be able to differentiate between the four types of senteces with 50% accuracy...blah blah blah

i hate this stuff....if there is one reason I quit it will be this

Re: lesson planning help

I have such a hard time with this. I have 6 different grades. 5 grades meet with me twice a week and 1 grade meets with me 3 times a week. There are no plan book formats for phys ed teachers. That stinks.. It is frustrating. Ill have a 5th grade then kindergarten then 3rd then 1st... My head is spinning. I'm actually typing a hand out right now for my parents at meet the teacher night tomorrow.

We have to include (non tenured teachers at least) NYS standards, objectives, and NASPE standards for me..

The only times I have to write that stuff out is for formal lesson observations - as far as the weekly plans that I have to hand in (I'm not tenured yet), I just write out a schedule with whatever it is I am doing.

That's crazy that if you have to include the standards in everything b/c I feel like everything we do now meets the standards. All of the programs we use are designed to meet the standards.
