Re: Let Take a poll
I used to work at a country club and sometimes they would make a tray of sandwiches and salads for the vendors. Maybe you can see if your hall will do that for you.

Re: Let Take a poll
So what are you guys tipping your bands? I booked straight thru the band not some outside person.I understand feeding them, but since we are paying so much already How much should we tip or should we tip?
The whole tipping thing for all the vendors really annoys me anyway, they are all getting Paid already and we all know the money is going to be tight by then.
thanks

Re: Let Take a poll
We plan on feeding dinner to our band. I just believe that a fed band is a happy band!If they do a good job and keep the party going, we'll also tip them.
I'm so sorry that I didn't go into that line of work...

I work 8-10 hours every day. No one feeds me.

Re: Let Take a poll
sp4747 - I would not necessarily say you HAVE to feed them. We are having a day wedding also and were worried about the cost. I spoke to them before we booked them and asked what the policy was and they said it is totally up to us. Our hall said they can eat free during the cocktail hour (which is more than anyone's normal meals any day of the week!). Then you have 4 hours left - who gets fed when they only work for 4 hours, especially between the hours of 2 - 6! So, my FI told them he'd rather save the money and give it to them in their tip and you know what - the band said they'd rather have the cash when all is said and done - they don't want a meal! So, we are in total agreement with them.

Re: Let Take a poll
We had no choice. We had to feed every vendor coming into the hall (except the florist). We were told by the band's reps that we didn't have to feed them; they'd eat at the cocktail hour and since it was a day wedding and they would be home for dinner, that was OK. But East Wind has a policy (that wasn't explained to us clearly when we signed the contract) that all vendors must be fed; though if you meet your minimum, you only pay half price for their meals. After spending the extra 400 to feed them, we had decided not to tip the band. But at the end of the wedding, we changed our minds and gave them $20 each because they had done such a great job and learned about 6 songs for us.
(I had given my brother an envelope of extra cash to use to increase tips at the end of the night, if necessary, or in case we might have forgotten someone.)
I say bring extra money with you (or give to someone) for tips and you can decide at the end of the night if the band's work or any other vendor warranted a tip or a bigger tip (or smaller) than you had planned.
