Let's talk seating charts!

Let's talk seating charts!

First of all, I highly recommend WeddingWire. Their seating chart tool is really easy to use. Also some people gave me the advice to seat everyone and as the rsvps come in, remove them, so you are not starting from scratch a month before the wedding.

Can you share your ryhme or reason for tabls? Like how you organized or plan on organizing people?

My hall can do 10-12 people per and a limited numbr of 14 top tables. I find a lot of people said no, so two tables got consolidated into one, or everyone who fits into a certain category is 14. I have a HUGE hall (holds up to 400) and I'm only by a miracle going to make my 170 minimum, so I don't think using the 14 person tables is a good idea. Plus, that seems huge.

How did you handle this monumental task?

Honestly, I don't get why so many girls stress this the way they do...FH and I refuse to seat anyone but our own guests (and we only have 50 on our personal list). My parents and FILs can worry about seating their own guests.

Don't worry too much about it. I am personally waiting until I get all the invites in to start this. Since my parents started hanging out with Fh's parents, all their friends started to mix. I'm not really worried about it.

I think you should wait tho. If your the type of person like me, I need to see the whole picture to know what I'm working with.

Good luck!

I'm definitely going to check out weddingwire!

I did do a mock up of seating charts a few months ago so I had some idea of who should sit together. I was able to consolidate as people replied 'no.'

I'm trying to group together people who know each other through some connection. For example, my childhood friends know my college friends and high school friends so I was able to make one big table out of those people. One couple - my neighbors who I also went to college with - is friends with one of my childhood friends and his siblings. So I grouped them together.

Very complicated, but it seems as though all is working out! The hardest part were my elderly aunts! My mom didn't want me to insult any other relatives by placing them with them, but they can't just have a table of 5!!! So, I did half elderly, half middle-aged! lol...

We have yet to touch my FH's side! I feel like that's his responsibility!!!

I think it really depends on the number of people! If you invited a lot, I wouldn't wait! People don't really reply in a timely fashion!!! My RSVP date was Wed. and I still am waiting on another 60 responses!
