Lets talk Vendor Insurance ....

Did any of your vendors give you a problem with providing insurance?

I have one vendor that is giving me a little bit of a hard time and is telling me that 'there is no reason for it'

Anybody else have to deal with anything similar?

If you have not dealt with it yet, then I'm sure you will be fine!

I'll get that insurance one way or another

Who's responsibility is it to show the hall proof of insurance? Do the vendors just bring it with them that day. The hall never mentioned anything to me. I mean i'm sure my vendors have insurance , they are all well known , reputable , frequently used vendors, but who's responsibility is it? i feel silly even asking this since my business in insurance , but it's commercial, not event planning so... lol

Re: Lets talk Vendor Insurance ....

I *believe* that it is my responsibility to make sure that my RH has all the vendors insurances ... but I also *believe* that the vendors need to fax/e-mail their insurances directly to the RH. Whatever it is, the RH needs to have them on file the day of the wedding

I am not too worried about most of my vendors because they have worked there recently so their insurance papers on file ...

It's just this one personnnnn

ETA: It is basically just to cover your @ss incase anything happens, like the vendor trips and gets hurt --- they can sue your RH as well as you!

But I do know that my RH told me that they need it for all vendors on their property that day.

I'm sure most of your vendors probably have their insurance on file at your RH! You should be okay!! Still a pain in the neck though!!

The only insurance I needed to provide was my DJ because it was a friend of mine. We faxed it and had no problems..other than that no other insurance was asked.

Re: Lets talk Vendor Insurance ....

i believe only house vendors have their certificates on file...all other vendors they make them send it in no matter how many times they have worked at the venue (at least thats what my RH did).
the problem i had was the vendor telling me they sent it and the RH telling me they never got it...so talk to your vendors 6-8 weeks in advance so you arent stressing last minute.
My RH needed them prior to the wedding...the vendors were not allowed to bring them day of

I just emailed my banquet manager to double check...but i mean it's 3 days before and no one from WCC asked me anything so....I'm using B Urtons, Duet and FM Entertainment... I assume they know they have insurance, these are regulary used vendors on Long Island , no?

Our DJ was the only vendor that needed insurance at our RH. But not our band - which is weird.
