DO YOU THINK WE'LL GET HIT WITH A SNOWSTORM THIS WEEKEND??

from newsday
This Sunday marks the anniversary of a ferocious late-fall storm that dumped a record 25 inches of snow on Long Island.

And one year later, forecasters at the National Weather Service are saying the area could get battered again by snow Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

But there's also a chance we will get nothing.
It depends on a low-pressure system off the Southeast coast and how close it passes to the Island as it moves northeast.

'It's hard to tell. It's all up in the air,' said David Stark of the National Weather Service in Upton.

Forecasters said there is a 30 percent chance of snow starting Saturday night, when temperatures are expected to be around 25 degrees. The forecast for Sunday gives us about a 40 percent chance of being hit - while the chance for snow Monday is 30 percent.

'If it tracks to the east, nothing's going to happen,' Stark said. But if the storm tracks to the west, 'the likelihood of seeing heavier amounts of snow goes up.'

'There's no rhyme or reason right now,' Stark said.

The area may receive no precipitation, the weather service said in a statement Thursday.

The winter storm has killed five people in accidents on icy roads in the Southeast, The Associated Press reported.

Three people were killed in two separate crashes in northern Mississippi early Wednesday, the AP said. In southeast Alabama, two teens were killed and a third hospitalized in critical condition after a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old slid out of control on an icy road and hit an 18-wheeler, the AP said.

As the weather moved east into the Atlanta metro area, police reported hundreds of crashes, especially north of the city, the AP said.

I see 6 other people like oranges too!

I can't even bother wondering anymore...I used to have a job that closed whenever NYC public schools had snow closings...I remember keeping vigil by the weather station all night and praying!
