When you go for a level 2 sonogram do you have to drink a lot of water before? The hospital didnt tell me to but some people at work said i should. I am 18 weeks. Thanks!

I don't have to drink any.......but I know plenty of people who were told to drink a lot. It seems like all places are different.

They didn't tell me to, but when I got to the office for the sonogram the tech asked why my bladder was empty. At 18 weeks when the bladder is full, it helps give the uterus a boost out of the pelvis so they can see things better. He was able to take measurements and do what he had to do, but it just made things harder.
He said 16-20oz approx. 40 minutes before would have done the trick.

I just called to schedule my sonogram today (I will be 18 weeks on Friday). The technician told me not to clear my bladder one hour before the exam. She said I didn't need to drink more. Hope that helps.

While I was in the office, they told me to empty my bladder prior to the sonogram.

Thanks guys. I went with a full bladder just incase and it turns out it was too full she couldnt really get a good read. So she let me pee. Thank God!
