Levittown Schools?

We arelooking in the Wantagh area, and see some of the schools are in the Levittown District #5, does anyone know how these schools are? I can't seem to find anything online. Thanks!

Not sure about the numbers, but if you are in the Island Trees district you are good.

I have cousins that live in Levittown and I know they go to the Catholic school - not sure of the name - St. Bernadettes maybe?

I live in Wantagh and our school district is levittown schools. My sister and brother both went to Lee Road for elementary school, Salk for middle and MacArthur HS and did very well. Actually my brother just graduated Sunday and the # of kids with scholarships and academic awards was amazing. Levittown used to have a bad rap but I would not hesitate to send my kids to Salk and MacArthur. Check in Newsday-the rating were very good. Hope this helps!
(i don't know much about division for high school)

I went to Levittown School District...Graduated from Gardiners Ave, Salk & MacArthur...Like someone said, the schools use to have a bad rap! My mother has been a teacher in the schools there for 18 years & still thinks it is wonderful. All the years I lived & went to school there never had a problem & teachers are wonderful!

I have heard mixed reviews on the Levittown SDs, and while we looked in Wantagh, we noticed considerable price differences in houses that were in Wantagh (SD#23) and Levittown....the houses in Wantagh were sometimes as high as $80K and up for what seemed to be similar houses......

I think one of the problems that people have with them is that the teachers don't have contracts. I know there have been many threats of strikes and walk outs. I know there are big problems within the administration. I have a friend who teaches in one of the elementary schools and he told me that he would never advise anyone to go to Levittown schools, the district is just a mess.

i went to gardiners/salk/macarthur...... and then IF and I purchased i house it this same school district. Personally plently of my friends form high school did very well. many of my friends including myself went on to ivy league schools.
Always keep in mind that it's what a child experiences in the home and the example we set for them. Of course the more expensive neighborhoods have better schools but think of the cycle.... to live in those neighborhoods the parents make more and probable encourage education.

I completely agree...If I child has parents at home that encourage the schooling, no matter what school you put them in, they will achieve their highest level! Everything stems from the environment that you grow up in & the values instilled by the parents...I know plenty of people in my graduating class that went to Ivy League schools & are top executives now...

I went to Gardiners/Salk/MacArthur (1998 graduate) I personally think they were great, it had it bad kids like any other schools do, but i never heard of anything happening that didn't happen in any other school. I would have no doubt of sending my children too!!

unfortunately when interest goes up, it will all end up leveling out

If interest rates go up, prices come down in sync. So it really doesn't matter. It does matter though if you have a huge down payment, then higher interest rates are better since the purchase price will be lower. Just my 2 cents.

I went to Salk and MacArthur (1995). I was actually looking into houses in Seaford and Wantagh, but we ened up buying in Commack. I would definitely send my kids to the Levittown schools.
