My FH and I want to go on a mini-moon on eastern LI from Sunday (we have a Saturday night wedding) until Tuesday. We both need to be back at work in schools by Wednesday, and will be taking our real honeymoon in July.
Even though I grew up on Long Island, I'm really clueless as to what gorgeous and romantic places there may be on the east end (without spending more than about $250 per night). Does anyone have any ideas for us? We're getting married May 1, so beach r&r is out!
Thanks for your help!

Green port is a cute little town. it reminds me of a little quaint town /fishing village with mom and pop stores, a carosel, lots of good places to eat. There are beaches nearby if it is nice just to go take a walk on, and the town itself is on the water. I'm not sure of the price of the hotels there, but i would check it out. It's also near the ferries to martha's vinyard and such.
FM me if you want any other details... i go once a year, but don't usually stay overnight

I went out to shelter island this past weekend and it was such a nice cozy area it reminded me of maine. FH and i stayed at Danfords in port jefferson and it was such a nice little retreat the room was so nice and it had a really nice deck to relax on. Plus port jeff is really nice.

Definitely Shelter Island. Or if you want to venture to Block Island (which is actually Rhode Island) - you get a ferry off of Orient. It's really relaxing and beautiful and romantic.

Either one... I really don't even know where to start! We'll be spending the night in Smithtown, by our reception hall, so we can really go either up or down!

We went on a mini-moon at Gurney's. It was extremely relaxing. The views are gorgeous and the spa is so nice. We got a couple's massage. The food was very good also. It rained most of the time we were there, and we still had a great time. Our only complaint was that there was no co-ed hot tub.
