LI Teachers

LI Teachers

Are there any other resources I can use to find a job? I have emailed resumes, applies on OLAS, mailed hard copies, made phone calls to make sure my resumes were received. All this and NO interviews!!!

I currently live in Nesconset and tomorrow I am back to work in Staten Island. I am absolutely miserable thinking about my commute the $800 a month I'll spend in gas and tolls.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

the best way is to know someone unfortunately...just keep trying, persistence always helps!

I've been applying for about a year and even have given my resume to many people that 'know' someone. I don't know how I am going to deal with this year.

I work in Staten Island now. I tried all over Queens. There are huge budget cuts in the city now, so they are excessing instead of hiring.

I haven't looked into any catholic schools. I really wanted to stay with public schools. We just bought a house and I really can't afford to take a pay cut. I have also applied to massapequa and bellmore along with many other districts, but nothing has come up for me.

Have you tried applying to Sachem..I know they're a large district.

FH works at Baldwin HS, but lives in Farmingville.

Yes, I've applied there too. That would be ideal because it is right by me!

My friend's sister works in Hiawatha..I'll ask her to ask her sister if she's heard of anything.

Maybe after the school year starts you'll get some calls??

Don't get discouraged!!!

In terms of Queens...have you tried South Ozone Park, South Richmond Hill. I went to PS 100, and I know PS 108, PS 128(? don't remeber if that's the exact number) are around there. I know there has Def. been a population boom in those areas...so maybe they need more teachers?

I tried all over in Queens, but since there were major cuts in the budget this year, they aren't hiring.

Have you tried putting yourself on the Open Market that the DOE provides for teachers who would like to transfer?
What are you certified in?

Yes, I was on it from the day it opened to the day it closed! I'm certified in Elementary Ed and Early Childhood, but I've been working under my Common Branch license.
