LIBRARIANS!!!

I am trying to finish up my MLIS and being that I moved out of state...I have to start almost from scratch again

so one of my assignments is to interview 3 librarians in an area that I see myself working in...

would anyone like to be interviewed? could you FM me your email and we could conduct it that way?

If you have trouble finding enough people to help please let me know. I might be able to ask some of our Librarians if they wouldn't mind helping.

Erica if you want me to ask or librarians I will. They are both so sweet and I don't think that they would mind if you need people.

I am going for my MLIS too. What school do you go to? If you need any librarians to interview, my nice coworkers could probably help (I am a page supervisor at Patchogue-Medford library) .

Re: LIBRARIANS!!!

thank you ladies!!! I am going to be writing up my questions in a week or two...

I think I have enough that you don't have to bother your co-workers...

I went to Queens for 1 year - but then we moved to CA...so now I am doing a 'distance' program through San Jose State...

I am pretty upset that I can only transfer 9 credits from Queens...

Re: LIBRARIANS!!!

That stinks that they won't let you transfer more of your credits after you put all your time there.

Re: LIBRARIANS!!!

Erica,

That is where I got my MSLIS from. I'm surprised that only 9 credits transferred over. What did you take that didn't transfer?

I should go there they still have one of my projects (the visual arts project from one of the core classes..with the postcards?) and I really want it back.

I loved Dr. Kibirige. We used to call him Dirty Harry

i was told never to take his class...b/c it was difficult to understand his accent...oh well...

the cataloging class was the toughest class that I have ever taken in my life...who would have known how tough an MLIS is...definitely harder than my counseling MS

Re: LIBRARIANS!!!

Michelle...is that a far trip for you?

you'll really like Queens

I have to look at my names of profs...there were some easy going ones

Re: LIBRARIANS!!!

Michelle,

I'm a private law librarian.

If that's the field you're interested in you're more than welcome to FM me about if you'd like.

Just don't take any classes with Prof. Supernaut. He doens't seem to like women too much.

Dr. Karen Smith is wonderful. She is school media professor. I only dealt with her as being the president of the student chapter of SLA but she's a nice person.

Rosemary Rasmussen is very nice too.

There are alot more teachers now than when I graduated in 97.

And yes Kibirige - so hard to understand but a really really nice man. But as for his classes, he's a good grader but kinda on the boring side when he teaches. Except for the database course he taught.
