Lifetime movie - SHE's TOO YOUNG last night

Anybody see it. That movie made me think. Being a parent has to be the hardest job in the world. If you didn't see it. A 14 year old has multiple oral sex partners and ends up with syphilus(sp?). What do you do as a parent? That is a hard decision. Just interested. She makes it a point to talkabout peer pressure that she felt to do it, which can affect grown people let alone a 14 year old girl . HOW WOULD YOU DISCIPLINE, TALK TO etc???????/

Unfortunately I missed it, but in one of my classes, I did a unit on HIV/AIDS and STD's. I had the health teacher also talk to this class and I think he grossed out the students (about 15 girls total, between the ages of 15 and 18) that they will probably never have sex.

i missed the beginning of it, but i say the rest. being a parent scares the crap out of me!!!!! although - i never had issues like that in school - i think i was still playing with my barbies until junior high!!!! i think the children today grow up in a much different world than we did - it moves too fast, they are exposed to too much.

my other favorite lifetime movie is 'fifteen and pregnant' with kirsten dunst. talk about an eye opener!!!!

I just thought it was too much to handle. As a parent I wouldn't now what to do. You are so mad you wanna kill them but i don't really think that is the right way to handle it. The world our kids are gonna grow up in, is really gonna be different.

very disturbing. i was stunned at the behaviors of these kids. i don't know what has happened in the past ten years, but something needs to change.

IMO - it has to start w/ the media. what happened to all the wholesome family oriented shows? i don't mean the leave it to beaver days, but we have to meet in the middle somewhere.

i agree 100% with you!! we had growing pains, family ties. shows that were pretty decent. these kids have britney spears and christina aquilera.

And everything bad seems to be good. How do you compete with ALL the outside elements? Home school your child indefintely? Which will probably have some negative effects in regard to their socialization techniques, but what do you do. I am still tring to figure out what I would do as a parent, considering there is only so much you can really control.

i'm obviously not a parent, but i have to think part of it is getting to know your child's friends. know where your child goes, who they hang out with. i think 99% of parents want to do a good job and take their job very seriously.

remember the friend's mother in the movie? she was more worried about HER social life than setting any limits for her kids. the daughter commented that the mother would never ground her, as that would impede on her own social life.

Defintely. That girls mother was defintely WAYYYY to complacent. I don't know what I would have done but I definitely couldn't be that laid back.

We watched it with a couple of teenagers and it was so moving, these are the kinds or things teens are doing today, they are growing up faster and are being influenced to do these things. It is such a shame, it seem as if parents does not have any kind of influence on them anymore.

I actually saw it Sunday morning and I thought it was great. It was definately a movie for teenagers and parents to watch together.

Very sad. That movie threw me for a loop. There is no way a parent can battle MTV.
