Light fixtures in kitchen??

What light fixture do you have in your kitchen? (or do you want to have for that matter).

I need something just right b/c my house is all open and the kitchen can be seen from everywhere.

Looking for stained glass options but im putting this here as an idea:

Edited to add these:

Love the stained glass choices. Actually I love all of them. Have you decided on cabinets and colors?

I have and ugly square white box light (goes with the zebra pop paper) that I cant wait to get down.

We havent figured out which brand to use (b/c we want to try to work with our latest kitchen guys suggestions first) but we pretty much know we are going to get a cabinet that looks like this:

in a cherry wood.

We are looking at flooring this weekend. I think we want pergo but we are a little concerned it will be a lot of wood. At the same time, everytime i see a kitchen magazine, all my favorite kitchens have wood floors and wood cabinets.

I have an ugly floresant light...but I love that first pic you posted...do you have the manufacturers name? the wrought iron would be nice for my mediterannean look

I think they are all lovely but will not provide a great deal of illumination. Do you have additional task lighting? (under cabinet or high hats)

My kitchen has more of a french country feel and is only 10x10 . I have a ceiling mounted fixture w/3 incandescent bulbs on a dimmer switch.

I like 1, 3 and 4... ALOT!
I thought #2 was too mission-y for kitchen style you posted.
We have plain ol' high hats.

Not sure about the illumination factor - i figured since these are open at the top, the light will reflect off the ceiling better.

Right now we have this:

which provides enough light so i figure the larger size will compensate for the darker glass. What do you think?

Im also planning on having under cabinet lights.

I hate my current lights and want a Pottery Barn Piedmont for over my table and then another ceiling fixture for the other area. But for now I have to keep my plain jane fixture.

I think you will like the stained glass stef.

We chose a pendant fixture for over the kitchen table...I don't have any actual pics scanned, but here's something similar. Ours is larger, and has multiple bulbs. We had it custom 'finished' in antique pewter to match the cabinet hardware.

We have a ceiling fan with lights in our kitchen and I love it because it keeps the kitchen much more comfortable in the summer when its hot - we don't have CA.

Went to Home Depot Expo and found a few lights that I love. Of course they dont have a website but im going back there when the time comes.

Kate: Im sort of going for a mission style. Im hoping to be able to have a few cabinet doors with a mission glass/wood design. Depends on what I find i guess.

I like all the fixtures you picked. I don't have a good picture of ours but I think that the right light fixture can really dress up a kitchen. It was like night and day when we finally put the chandelier up and took down the horrible beehive looking thingy that came with the house.

I don't think that you'll have any problems with lack of lighting. We often use just the chandelier.
I prefer it to be a bit dim...cozier, IMO.

We do have lo voltage halogens around the rest of the kitchen for when I need extra lighting when I cook and plus they do a good job of showcasing the granite tops.
