lighting

Is anyone using a separate vendor for lighting? I know that some DJs have this a package option but for those that do not have that are you going to get a vendor to do lighting? Any suggestions/pricing? I have no idea around how much this costs!

We're using our DJ for uplights. We're getting 12 color-changing LEDs to surround the room. It's $720 all together ($60/light). We wanted the color-changing ones so it was more expensive. I know that my florist also offers uplighting, and many other florists as well, so that's an avenue you may want to pursue. Good luck!

We decided notto get the lighting from our guy, it was an insane amount extra for the lighting...we went with a dinner singer instead... May sound crazy but I just felt like on a budget, the lighting we would cut out.

I think that some dj's may be offended if you went to someone else unless it was a 'lighting' professional (Hope this makes sense I tend to ramble and not get to the point)

Check out prices from other places and then see what yor best alternative it. Another place may charge you more because that is all you are using them for...you know?

We booked lighting separate from our DJ. Check out Elegancia, they have a really good lighting package and Jose really knows what he's doing. It would really depend on your dj if they get offended. Luckily our DJ knows Jose so it worked out perfectly.

I am doing perimeter lighting with my DJ and it's costing us 800.
Their other lighting packages were much cheaper.

After seeing some of the 08'ers really cool lit up reception pictures, I have thought about this. I wonder if my RH does this. I have to find out!

Check with your RH they may have someone they work with. I met with 2 vendors before I settled on the vendor my RH works with. Their price worked out much better for us, about 50% less than the other two vendors for the same thing.
