Lighting

Do you think that DJ lighting is necessary?

i got quoted 2 Lighting effects in my package- but I'm not even sure what that means. I don't want the lights to come off clubish- and am tempted just to leave them out all together.

Or will this be boring?

I think it it up to you and depends on the look you are going for. I think beautiful candle light can work to add nice ambiance as well.

I saw this one wedding show and a planner said he refused to do a wedding/event without lighting.

if it is not in your budget don't stress. I am sure your guests will have a wonderful time with or without lighting.

I have to agree my FH wants it but I'm going for a more elegant fairytale atmosphere so we scratched the lights and favors. But do whatever makes you happy

Re: Lighting

we are just using basic lighting..... uplighting and stuff can look really pretty but honestly I have never ever noticed whether they had it or not at a wedding so it's not worth the money IMO.

When we first booked I too skipped the dancefloor lighting thinking it can be too clubby. I didn't book that in the contract. I did book the uplighting because it's spectacular and makes the room just look like a dream. But just recently I emailed my DJ and upgraded my contract to inlcude the dancefloor lighting. It won't be too clubby, and I saw it recently without the dancefloor lighting and it was very boring. You have to do what works best for you. Good luck!

We have uplighting too in there! I can't wait to see it! Who is doing your uplighting? Spitz is doing ours. What color is yours? We have blue.
Also having lights with the DJ.

Our DJ is doing our uplighting. We are having color changing LEDs, so they will alternate our wedding colors for the beginning and as the party gets under way they will alternate all colors probably.

Me too- Me too!!! We're going to alternate colors- amber, purples. I can't wait. I am waiting for a bride who had her reception in my same room to post pictures of her uplighting. It changes everything.
