We have an option of two DJs.

1. DJ with no lights. She can bring a disco ball. But she's supposed to be a great DJ. Was in Modern Bride's list of top DJs in the country. $1100.

2. Other DJ. Well-liked DJ on this board. Includes a little bit of lighting in their package. $1499.

Does the lighting make a huge difference? With tip, it's a $500 difference...worth it?

That is all up to you. The Dj I am using is bring the lights, smoke machine and give aways for the kids. We are getting hime for 7 hours and it is $2200.00

I really depends on the atmosphere that you want.

If you are having a day wedding then lighting makes no difference at all, but I think at a night wedding lighting kind of sets the mood for a dance atmosphere (if that makes any sense). I had no idea about lighting until one DJ we went to see actually showed us a light show in a back room - it really did make a big difference. HTH!

We had no lighting at our reception and I was glad. I think it's just personal taste.

Our wedding is in the evening...poll is tied, more opinions please.

We had it and Im glad, my reception was in the evening and the lighting was just great! and it looked awesome in my wedding video too!
