Went tonight for my teeth whitening. It was one of the grossest experiences of my life. I got a chemical burn on my lips within 4 minutes, so my lips were throbbing and on fire for the remaining 41 minutes. The thingee they have to put in your mouth to keep your teeth exposed made me feel gaggy and uncomfortable. My teeth got very sensitive about 1/2 way through, so I had that jabbing pain that I get when I bite into ice cream. THEN, the worst was when they made the molds for my touch-up trays. I gagged so badly that I MADE the dentist take the tray out right away, and I kept gagging even after it was out. All in all, pretty torturous.
So, he said it would take up to 2 hours to see the full effect. It's been 3 hours now.
Sigh. Really minor difference. Definitely not worth the big bucks and the torment!
Your mileage may vary. But that was my experience.

Did you go for Zoom or Britesmile or something else? I'm still trying to decide how to whiten my teeth.

I am using Crest Whitening strips- they work awesome. I got the ones that you only need to do for a week.

Sorry to hear that.
I used Nite white excel ..the kind you sleep with in your mouth. I dont have that much sensitivity and it lightened my teeth to an almost lily white. A few days to go yet.

i did Brite Smile and highly recommend it. 1 hr procedure, i watched tv and even fell asleep.

I did the Zoom laser whitening and I lost my voice for 3 days!!!!!!!!! I guess I swallowed alot of the bleach during the process. I will never do it again!

Hey, other people who got whitening done by a dentist: did the dentist first use a 'conditioner' on your teeth that made your teeth feel rough? I'm really concerned about that... that it might have damaged my enamel. I want to do the Whitestrips now, but I'm worried about doing it right after this other procedure.

i use crest whitening strips.... i only do them once a day and they work like magic!

I had the trays made and the gel is so strong that my teeth hurt. They are not sore. they do not tingle - THEY HURT!!! I can only use it for an hour or so. Now I buy Rembrandt gel and use that once every 3 months. Trays are kind of worth it but I would recommend the Crest White strips unless you have major stains. It may take longer but I think that is better. If you do it too quickly - your teeth will hurt

I had the zoom done about a month ago...and although the process was long i.e prep and waiting, I was satisfied. I will never have white, white teeth, but the process definatly6 made my smile whiter!! Now bring on the red lipstick!!!

My dentist keeps on suggesting brite smile, but I think I'd rather try the crest strips....one less reason to visit the dentist office! I am glad to hear the crest white strips work, I have a $7 coupon for them....thanks!
