Limiting favors...Favors for children? Favors per couple?

Hi,

We're planning on nice favors and trying to figure out how many to get. We don't have to do favors as we're planning a special performance, but my fiance wants to.

How are all of you doing it? One per couple? No favors for kids?

We have quite a few distant cousins that we've never met who have like 3 or 4 adult and or young children and we'd rather not buy favors for each of them. So we were thinking of saying 2 per family.

Now if I limit the number, will it look funny on the tables to have empty spots? Should I buy some candy or something to fill in the spots? I thought of doing a favor table, but heard of guests who will try to take more than their fair share.

Thoughts? Thank you!

I feel like wedding costs are spiralling out of control

i've thought about this, but I really don't think I'll be able to fairly assess how many I need for couples/families. I think we'll just do one adult favor per person and have children favors like coloring books and/or candy.

children, if they come, will be given acctivity or coloring books and candy favors for all and bigger favors one per couple or one for a single guest

our favors are doubling as placecards, so one favor per placecard. we should only be having 3 under 18 (7, 15, 17) and the favors suit them as well so it's fine.

I think the answers to your questions all depend on what type of favor you plan to do.

For example, I plan on doing wine bottles as favors. Obviously, the children will not be getting wine for a favor!!! There's 5 really young kids, and then 2 'tweens', so I plan on doing a separate/personal favor for them that caters to their age group.

As for the wine bottles, I have not completely decided if I'm doing big bottles or little bottles. If I do big bottles, I might do 1 per couple. Because my mom said that considering I'm getting low centerpieces, if I have a bunch of big wine bottles on the table, it might take away from that. But if I'm doing the small bottles, then I will do 1 per person and have it at their seat.

If money is tight, then do 1 per couple. If you can swing doing a favor for each person, then I'd say do that.

We are donating $ to Cancer so we are giving one favor per couple. for kids (we have about 12) we are giving them coloring books and crayons and stickers. Not much for the kids b/c they dont care about favors and will be more worried about dancing!

Thanks everyone for your advice!

The favors would look great on the tables, but I worried that empty spaces might look funny.

I decided to have one per couple/family and will attach placecards to them (just hope placecard table is big enough to hold them all!) If I put them on tables, I feel like people will try to grab more than one and the kids will all want one, etc. I ordered a few extra in case some guests really wanted another and also will probably give a few out to bridal attendant, etc
