limo Q?

limo Q?

i have been calling up limos and i am getting quotes for about $900 for 2 cars. one rolls and one 10 passenger lincoln. plus 20% grat. i think this price is pretty good and average from what i understand. i also get a free pickup after the reception.

now i called my mother and told her this and my plans. after the wedding i would like me and FH in the rolls and the other cars is for immediate families and our small bridal party if possible. his family is from australia, they cant even drive on the right side of the road. we may get another one as well depending on certain circumstances.

my mom is saying that you have to travel after the wedding with the bridal party and that a bride and a groom never go alone together after the wedding. i have heard this before. am i crazy and suggesting something out of the ordinary? or is this something that happens quite a bit?

TIA!

A lot of people go in a different car than the bridal party after the wedding. We're not planning on doing that but a number of our friends have.

I've seen/heard of a lot more couples going in a seperate car than the bridal party. We're doing the same thing.

However, it's not uncommon for the bridal party and bride and groom to ride together, just not as often as the above.

Do whatever you want to do. Some couples take their own car and some go w/ the bridal party. We went back w/ the bridal party since they came w/ us and didnt bring cars plus in our culture its tradition, after the wedding, to go back to the bride's house so that the bride's mom and groom can exchange gifts. So its not like we were heading straight to a hotel or anything after the reception.

I will be in a seperate car from the wedding party (a rolls). IMO it will be a nice break and a chance to spend time together from all the craziness.

that is what i want to do as well. i figured it would be a nice break from a hectic day.

buuuutttt no everyone in my family is saying you have the rest of your life to spend alone. between my mom annoying me and my FHs mom annoying me i need to go for a nice long therapy session.

*bridezilla mode on*

OMG i hate these moments.

If you want to be alone with DH, then do it. FH & I had the biggest argument over this. He wanted to ride with BP, I wanted to ride alone. He kept arguing that we wouldn't be alone because the limo driver would be present. I finally convinced him that between the ceremony and the picture taking and the guest greeting and the first dance and the food and the cake cutting and on and on, this would be our only opportunity before 1 AM to enjoy each other's company and take in the fact that we were husband and wife. We have an hour ride from the ceremony to the reception and it will be our time.
