Limos- do not use

Limos- do not use

I wanted to let you all know about a problem I am having with Alladins Limo Svc (which by the way..is currently in Chapter 11)

I got married on Sept 14th 2001. I had originally scheduled a limo w/ alladins for this date. I found out shortly after this that someone had got me limos as a gift. I immediately called Alladins to tell them. I was sure that I would lose my deposit but that was ok with me. I asked him about using the deposit for a bachelorette party and he said that would be ok. I told him my sister would contact him to work everything out. It was a suprise so I had no idea of any of the details.

Well, to make a long story short, we only had 6 girls and the limo was going to cost over 1,300 dollars. She told the owner that there was no way they could afford it.

So, you would think it was over right. Well I wouldnt be writing this if that was it. They ended up showing up at my sisters house the night of the bachelorette party (we were already in the city) and they chanrges me $1,350.

I called today to try and resolve the issue. The owner was very nasty to me. He wouldnt let me explain what happened and he yelled at me and hung up on me. I told him that he would see me in court.

Girls, if you want to save yourself a lot of problems stay away from this company. Months ago he told my husband that he would give us the money back but he just didnt have it right now. I wanted to bring him to court but my husband wanted to see if he lived up to what he said he would. Obviously he has not. So off to court we go.

Oh yeah, he is a jerk. I met him at the Huntington Hilton Showcase which was after I saw him on FOX NEWS for ruining 2 weddings and one groups of kids prom. He promised NY on his third appearance of there show that he didn't know his company was having a problem and it would be fixed and money refunded. If he continues to be an jerk I would call Fox News and make a report to them b/c I know they would love to show that he is still being a jerk and possibly you can get by without court by just threatening him in the NEWS once again.
He definetly is slmiy though and he is so dumb, we almost went with him b/c we thought he learnt his lesson and he had a hummer and my FI is graduated from the Air Force Academy and our saber bearers wanted a hummer and we thought it would be cute, well the owner of alladain told me they are horrible cars and not to get one.. I explained it was for 16(22-15) year old Air Force and Army 2nd LT's and he still was a jerk..
So, we went with JAM LIMO!!!!!
I gotta tell ya JAM LIMO in plainview in incredible!!!

Did you pay cash, or use Credit?

If you used credit, your cc company can reverse the charges (depending on which cc company it is it may be easy to do). If you paid cash, you basically have no recorse except contacting the BBB. While the company is not obligated to return the money when the BBB contacts them, they may do it as a way of avoiding a negative rating. Also, please post this info on all wedding boards, so no other brides fall victim to this horrible vendor.

I did charge it but citibank did not help me. I did dispute it but they say that they couldnt resolve it. Now I know not to use that card again for something like this. I should have used AMEX. I know of people who have had problems and AMEX resolved them right away.

Alladin`s Limos is definitely trouble

A while back, Laura (one of the brides here) had lots of trouble with Alladin`s. And if I recall correctly, the owner started arguements on this board with Laura, trying to defend his lousy company.

This is certainly a limo place to stay away from.

I`m so sorry for your troubles. Good Luck in your battle.

Kel, you are right; I remember the problem too

I remember Laura had a problem and then owner was very inappropriately posting here. Of course the thread got deleted but it was very unprofessional. I think they have a negative BBB rating too. Interesting how they try to change the name to continue with a 'clean' record. Shame, shame!!!

As soon as I read your story. (Which by the way I feel your pain) the first thing I thought was I'd call/e-mail Fox 5 Problem Solvers www.fox5ny.com they are great for helping (and a lot cheaper then court) I wish you all the best! GOOD LUCK!!

That`s typical

Companies that file for chapter 11 or go bankrupt do somtimes open under new names. Shrewd business people use the new names to hide and cover-up their past.

I was aware of one such company growing up. Then, in college, I got stuck in a situation where my boss kept bouncing checks on me, and yes, this place reopened several times under different names. The first name change happened when the place moved to a new location .. so what was I supposed to think? I figured .. new location, new name. Luckily those rubber checks annoyed me enough to get out before the next name change came .. without a change of location! :)

(Just for the record ... I had an account with the same bank the checks were written from, so they were always able to tell me there were insufficient funds, saving me from all those additional fees the banks love to slap everyone with!)

Another Alladin horror story....

my friend got married last summer
and Alladin forgot to pick up her
groom and the groomsmen. They hopped
in a car and drove to the church!
How horrible! I guess it's better to
happen to the guys than the girls
right? We would freak!

I submitted something on the web to fox 5 and channel 7. We will see what happens. I just got the court papers in the mail today so I will try that also. It only costs $15 to file in small claims court. It is just a pain to have to go there and all.

Thanks for all the help!

Name was change from Alladins to Alexarae *NM*

I live about 3 blocks from Alladins (now Alexarae) and I thought they would be good to go to since they were so close and my church was only 2 blocks from them.

First of all their prices were skyhigh! And secondly, I have heard so many bad things about them on here and on the news, that I knew not to go with them.

Now they change their name...very shady if you ask me.

;-(

I have periodiclaly posted about them whenever I see a bride to be mention the possibliity of using them-- we were lucky because we were warned by a bride on here--we gavee him the opportunity to make it right--decided to cancel- lost our deposit--and made sure he cancelled the contract(he has a clause in it that if you dont have a cancelation in writing then he can charge you either way-- and do you know that the night of our rehearsal(night before the wedding) he called our cell phone saying that he didnt know what time he was picking us up---out of control--I def agree that Fox 5 should get involved again--
good luck hope you get some money back
