Not sure what most of you are doing, but I automatically assumed that we would get a limo for my parents and FI's parents to get to the reception....but when I spoke to my mom she said that was really unecessary because her and my dad would drive- and then come home that way at the end of the night. She said this is what she thought was normally done and insisted that we not get them a limo.
Any thoughts? I thought proper etiquette was to take care of this for them but now I'm not sure what to do. Thanks in advance :)

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
My parents are insisting on driving themselves. (I just assumed they'd be in the limo, too. but no.)
FH's mom doesn't drive, so we'll make space for her.

Same thing w/ our parents. We assumed they would want a limo but when we asked them they both insisted on driving themselves.

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
My mom said the same thing, but I decided to get the limo anyway. It's going to be a long day and a lot going on, I don't want them to worry about driving. I figure, at the end of the night, they can get a ride home from a neighbor or relative who lives nearby.

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
My parents said the same thing. They were both in the Rolls with my to the church and had made arrangements to have their car at the church to have to go to the reception and home afterward. I think they would have liked a limo if they were planning on drinking at the wedding - but they decided that we were go to have a bash at their house the day after the wedding - so they knew they couldn't drink too much!

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
I don't think we are giving them limos. My mom asked, but she wouldn't be the one driving anyway.
Both of our parents are divorced, so that would up the amount of limos and it's just not financially possible.

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
I want to do this for our parents. I would never ask them because of course they will say no. I dont think anyones parents would actually ask for it. I want it to be part of our gift to them. Its their special day too. I hear them talking about leaving their cars here and there for the day and it makes me so sad, I feel like it is the least I can do.

Yes!! That's how I feel D&C! I don't want them thinking about driving and arranging on that day. I actually didn't necessarily ask my mom...but she's been a huge part of all of the planning and when discussing limos, I just included them in there as a given - that's when she said no, not necessary, etc.. I think I may do it anyway, I just wanted to see what the 'norm' was for this. Thanks ladies!

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
We got a limo for my in-laws, SIL and nephews only because they're ALWAYS late, and DH had nightmares of them being late for the ceremony. It was well worth it.
Good luck, Donna 10/5/03

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
You all are lucky. FH's mom doesnt drive( never has) and my mom who is single would have to drive alone because we have a small family who is going with dates etc...So I have to get them transportation.

Ditto, parents refuse to bother with the limo.

Re: LIMOS! Parents included??
FH and I are getting two limos..one to fit our bridal party and the other for both our parents and his sister and husband (not in wedding party).
Even though they would have been fine without it- I just think it adds a nice touch and alleviates them having to worry about driving to reception & church.
We are also getting a COACH bus for guests, so we will all be going back on that (Bridal Party plus parents)...
