limo/transportation dilemma

limo/transportation dilemma

Hi ladies!

I'm getting married in five weeks and I originally wasn't planning on using a limo, but rather just renting some nice cars. I still might do this, but it WOULD be nice to have the whole wedding party together as we travel from the church to the venue, at the very least. The whole party is 10 people (bride, groom, and 4 attendants each side). So my question is, how long do people normally rent a limo for?

My wedding is at 11:00 am, and I might like a limo to take me from the hotel to the church (a 15 minute drive). We will probably leave the church for photos and reception (a 20 minute drive away) around 12 or 12:30pm. We will then leave the reception location around 6:30pm, to return to the hotel (a 15 minute drive).

Do you rent a limo for the whole time (like 10:30am to 7pm)? Or do you rent for the smaller chunks of time (10:30am - 1pm and 6:30pm - 7pm)?

This brings up the issue of making sure everyone has a ride, too. Like, on the way to the church, it would only be me and my girls in the limo -- don't want to ride there with the boys. But this means the boys would have to get to the church a different way -- we'd have to leave their car at the church? Also, the whole party doesn't have to ride together back from the reception, either...but if we didn't, then I'd have to arrange for a way for everyone to get back.

I'm confused! What did everyone else do?

Alot of places have a 3 hour minimum, which it seems you would need. So you would use the limo for the first chunk of time....and then have them send a car to pick you up at the end of the reception.

Well, for the ride there, you could rent one limo that fits you, hubby and the party. The limo can pick up the boys first, being them to church. Limo comes back to where you are, picks up you and the girls and brings you to the church. Then since the limo is big enough, after the ceremony, the limo takes all of you to the reception.

This is exactly what FH and I have been debating about.

To start most limo packages that I have seen are for 3 1/2 hours or 4 hours depending on the place. You can get them for longer but it obviously costs more $. Some places do have what they call pickup/drop off deals but it is literally what it says, picking you up and dropping you off from point A to point B.

Usually the limo company will provide you and your husband with a town car for the ride home/hotel, or you can ask that they thrown it in.

You would probably have to get transportation back from the hotel for everybody unless they somehow figure out how to get their cars to the reception hall. My biggest thing is I want everyone to drink and enjoy themselves and don't want them to drive back to the hotel after drinking all day.

I'm thinking we'll need two limos, a 10 person and a 22-24 person. The guys can all go in the 10 person, I'll go in the bigger one with my girls, the wives of some of the guys and probably the boyfriends of 2 of the bridesmaids. After the ceremony the 10 person can take the wives and boyfriends to the reception hall since they won't be needed for pictures and the rest will go in the bigger one for pics. As for after, we'll probably have to get a shuttle or bus to take everyone and their significant others back to the hotel.

This is what we are doing to fulfill the 3 hrs...but we aren't taking pics anywhere but the RH. And they are sending a limo to pick us up.

Thanks, guys! This was really helpful. I hadn't thought about using the same limo to pick up the boys first, and then us. That makes a lot of sense. I'm glad I asked here first!
