I live in a small condo, I am not home all day (do my lights arent on). Yet my LIPA bill was just 125$ This seems high to me. Can you ladies give me an idea of what I should be paying each month?

Re: LIPA Bill
Christy - I am in a house. Of course our bill is different each month. The summer is a bit higher because of the AC. The past couple of months was between 60 - 70 dollars.

Re: LIPA Bill
maybe you should call them and have them check it out - maybe it's a mistake or can you check with a neighbor and find out what their bill looks like....that is if you know anyone else near you...

Re: LIPA Bill
Christy - I know Michele used to live there. Maybe you can ask her. Right now she is in the hospital with her little one, but maybe she can tell you how her bills were.

Re: LIPA Bill
Usually electric bills cover a 2 month period of time, but I would call them and tell them your concerns. If you are in a complex, the reading may be estimated if they could not get in to do an actual reading, or if the last reading was an estimate, and this is an actual it may be making up that difference. Ask them for a special reading to verify the numbers, and if it comes back that the reading was correct ask for a high bill inquiry. They will send someone there to check things out (you will need to be there b/c they come in the home and check the appliances and the home).
I used to work there back in the Lilco days, I would imagine it is still the same procedures.

Re: LIPA Bill
Sometimes they bill 2 months at a time so check your bill. Also since you just moved in, check if they put you on a budget. They do that so you pay the same amount every month but they figure the budget from the person there before you so they might have been light crazy.
We are in a 2 bedroom huge apartment and pay at the most $70 a month and I am very bad about leaving lights on.

Re: LIPA Bill
That sounds HIGH to me... I would call and ? them... but do remember, LIPA bills bi-monthly. So that might be the total for 2 months worth of electric. Look into it!

Re: LIPA Bill
did you have to pay a deposit? Sometimes they include a deposit.
